Title: H1 coils
Post by: 2 Stroke Jamoke on March 20, 2019, 06:15:20 AM
Hey everybody,  I have a 73 h1, the one with 3 coils like h2, does anyone know  where to get a good set of replacement coils for it? Thanks

Don't try anything after market. Kawasaki H2 CDI doesn't play well with after market coils. Are yours had? Try looking on EBay.

hev to disagree., the scooter coils work fantastic. had them on the frog and the S2.
I know they are dirt cheap and hokey looking, but jim hobbs figured these worked out really well. use new plug wires and caps, throw the ones with the coils out.

Like Mark said.  I have scooter coils on my H1 and on my H2.  Inexpensive and they work great.  Here's an example: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Ignition-Coil-For-GY6-50CC-125CC-150CC-Engine-Dirt-Bike-Scooter-Moped-ATV/183661018472?hash=item2ac30cbd68:g:qYMAAOSwp~Vcdnpr&frcectupt=true

You will need to change the spark plug caps to non-resistor type like this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/90-NGK-SPARK-PLUG-NON-RESISTOR-CAPS-FOR-MOTORCYCLE-OR-SMALL-ENGINE-MOPED-5PC/132449336716?hash=item1ed6987d8c:g:B6cAAOxy0NtTEi9Q&frcectupt=true

I was told years ago by Ron Reichert at PHR that after market coils will shorten the life of the gold boxes on H2 CDI. That is my basis for my statement. Use whatever you would like.

That's just not true as long as they are the correct primary resistance rating......   :twocents:

They rarely fail.

Try to check them for resistance and use new wires and caps.
