General Chatter / Re: 2 stroke extravaganza

The date hasn't been announced yet but I would assume it will be in the fall like the past few years. Last year was Sun Oct 8 so keep that in mind.

Does anyone know the date of the 2 stroke extravaganza in Southern California this year?
Thanks.

Quote from: m in sc on May 16, 2024, 04:10:09 PMthere were 421 conversations, i advised against it due to street riding.. but then again, not my bike. Not sure how the 392 kits work on road manners though, i  would imagine light switch vs an rz motor w power valves.

Personally I would not buy anything from Vitos.
Driveline in Michigan has a good reputation. I have their 421 in my 73 RD and with stock porting is not a crazy light switch power wise. 421 needs bigger carbs and specific pipes to make power. The 393 stock crank kit will still work ok with RZ pipes and stock carbs

Turning Wrenches / Re: Wiring Question
Last post by m in sc - May 16, 2024, 03:36:42 PM
THE 400 UNITS CONTROL THE rotor by switching the ground on/off as needed(exact opposite on a 350). so yes, it needs a switched 12v source to the brown wire . fusing it isn't a bad idea of course, but if can be fused from the feed wire.  on the stock harness, if you look, it's on the 2nd to bottom fuse in the box in the diagram.

Turning Wrenches / Wiring Question
Last post by Joe6v6 - May 16, 2024, 02:29:00 PM
I will be using the Rectifier/Regulator combo (see pic) from HVC on my RD400. All the old wiring is gone & I have most of the new in place. One question is about the Green & Brown wires on the combo unit that go to the generator brushes (I think ) . On the attached Rd400 wiring diagram it appears to show a connection to 12v on the Brown wire. I am assuming that if you plugged this unit into a stock harness that connection would be made somewhere. My harness is long gone - So is this correct? Run a fused 12v connection to that wire? I have ran into other diagrams that seem to confirm this but I want to be sure. Any help or info is appreciated.   .   Joe
