Turning Wrenches / Re: Pressure Test

Mark, are the gaskets 100% necessary? I bought Reed spacers and the crossover intakes from Economy. I installed my TDR reeds, but wrecked the gaskets disassembling and didn't buy more gaskets to begin with.

They are going on my next order, other wise was thinking of using Permatex anerobic sealer.

How much oil did you put in? Was the amount in the instructions? Sorry, just bought Race Tech springs as well, but haven't even come close to looking at the online instructions.

Turning Wrenches / Re: RD350B headlight beam options

I definitely will be buying the headlight from Economy. Been toying around with the idea for years, and now that I have a little paint experience, I am going to bite the bullet and paint to match. I disassembled my original and added a halogen bulb with 55W high beam. I don't like the beam pattern or the load on the charging system

Can you just add a front mounting tab that extends rearward, into the wheel opening of the swingarm?

Forgive me if my suggestion won't work, I removed my chainguard years ago. If it has an area that has an impression for shock clearance then modification would be the only way.

Haus of Projects / Back to my build, sons helping now

Haven't been the best at getting my kids involved in projects over the past few years, although really didn't want them stepping on nails or breathing drywall dust.

Rebuilt my engine 3-4 years ago and let the bike sit partially assembled while I bought my most recent house and started remodeling. Now it's back to the RD and I can get the kids involved. The boys are 8 and 10 and love Minecraft and Legos, but want them to get excited about the real fun stuff.

Gave them the chance to remove the seat, gas tank, and heads by themselves tonight.  They did well with little assistance. We pulled the heads to see if any rust had formed in the cylinders. All is good!

I want to do this in the worst way just to do it. Might be a while because I just sold my last bike without a title.

Will do! Thanks guys!. I'm sure I never did myself any favors by riding in the rain, but there are only so many months to ride in Wisconsin.

Thanks. Once my parts are delivered and get a chance to look the bike over again, I'll dig into connections. I do know I've had turn signal issues sometimes after sitting for the winter, but that would go away after swiping the switch a few times. All of the other wiring seemed good as far as I remember.

Thanks. Going to think a bit on thia one. Rebuilt engine about 3-4 years ago and haven't run it yet. Had a laundry list of parts to comlete the overhaul and bought a house. Spent the last 3 years remodeling,  and now it's bike time.

Awesome. I haven't heard my RD run in over three years so that was nice to watch. I just bought almost everything to finish my rebuild and now I'm impatiently waiting for everything to arrive.

I have 74 Yam 350 and I feel like the wiring is fine, but know it's over 40 yrs.old and feel like there is a benefit to replacing the harness.

With tha said, anyonr have experience with the Economy Cycle harness?

Looks like a great price for what it is.

Turning Wrenches / Hopefully back for good!

Hello forum members. I have been away from the forums for at least two years and the year before I was barely participating.

I used to be fairly active and was buying/selling and reading the posts daily until 3 1/2 years ago when I bought my house. Life got busy with roofing/remodeling/landscaping etc, as well as my children getting older and more involved with extra curricular activities.

Before all of this, I rebuilt the engine in my 74 RD350 and I was accumulating a list of parts to complete it and run the engine. I never finished. It is sitting on the stand in the corner of the garage.

I am now at a point where I may start back into the bike. Hopefully the engine isn't all rusty inside. I need to see if I can find my list of parts and start purchasing so I can get back to riding again.

I look forward to this forum growing in the wealth of knowledge that it used to be, and contributing where I can.
