Interesting carbs, they look like ancient Lectrons.
Did he store the bike outside for 30 years? it looks like hell.
Whole thing is trash. Carbs are interesting. Funny put a brightening product on the tires and seat. Tank, pipes, forks etc. are all garbage due to the extent of the rust.
Was that the original color of the carbs?
they came blue new.
thats saveable, for sure. crusty as fuck, but saveable.
My bike was way worse than this and I saved it from the scrap yard.
I think every single part on that motorcycle will need attention; interested to see where it ends $$
Yikes, that's rough
perfect for a special to make the rivet counters cringe. :science: :olaf:
Yeah, chop it up and make something trick. An OEM resto isn't wise.
Someone must have went there and bought it.

Weird. When I looked this morning there were two bids on it for $2 and change, now that ad is ended by the seller and shows no bids.
With no reserve I didnt think it could be pulled if there were bids
That's flea bay for ya. :evil2:
it can within either 12? or 24 hours before the end of the auction. i cant remember.
It's back. --- https://www.ebay.com/itm/1979-Yamaha-RD400/264770464492?hash=item3da58caaec:g:rIUAAOSwkhpe4X7O
Some bidding activity this time too.
Here's part of the listing for reference after it goes away.
Pipelynes Pipes!
Already $1175
Winning bid: US $1,577.00
That's about $1200 more than I would have paid for it.
I was hoping to get the R5 but quickly got to more than I would pay.

$800.00 Bid: 10 Jul 2020 at 5:46:52AM PDT
Cancelled: 10 Jul 2020 at 5:56:10AM PDTThis bike seems to be a drama queen
I wonder if last winner was slow with sending payment, and relisting motivated him.
