All grounds are solid and clean. Even ground from engine to frame. Grounds in harness have been redone and soldered. All white wires to stator measure .5ohms between them.

Turning Wrenches / RD400 overcharging
December 13, 2020, 12:22:46 PM
Hello everyone, I have a 76 Rd400 that was/is overcharging 15.6v and killed the battery. Replaced the battery and voltage regulator/ rectifier from HVC. Now it is charging up to over 19v while revving. Saw a video online that stated if the feed wire has resistance it will cause overcharging even though the regulator is working properly. The handle bar switch is new. Any suggestions on where to start looking for a bad connection? I don't want to call the regulator bad untill I've checked everything else. Sorry for the long post. Thanks

Turning Wrenches / Re: Detonation

Just a thought. I had a similar problem on my 400. Pinging at 8k no matter what we did. I  ended up running race gas to confirm it wasn't something else I was hearing. Pinging went away. One day I will get the DG heads reworked and be able to run normal gas but it's running great for now, but expensive. My 2cents

Thank you. Looks like a bad battery.  Odd that it happened overnight and kept goin GB back to 13v. Jumped it and everything is working.

Hi guys, hopefully someone has seen this before.  Bike h as s been running great for 600 miles after restoration. This morning the neutral and oil light weren't on. Bike wouldn't start. Battery has full charge 13v. Turn ignition on and voltage drops to. 2v. Removed all but main fuse and dropped to 2v. It does have Dyna ignition. I'm thinking a short for sure but any common area to look first?

Just wondering if anyone might have a extra side stand for sale. Trying to make one that works better but if it doesn't work out right I'll still have one to keep the bike up. Relocation kit kinda works but still hanging like the last picture. Thanks.

Will check tonight . Thanks

Lights occasionally flicker and engine cutting out.  Only 250 miles on complete rebuild. Was running fine. Trying to get the jetting right and now this. Not sure if I missed a ground or one came loose. Running dyna s if it matters. Thanks

Turning Wrenches / Re: Counter shaft seal
August 25, 2019, 01:04:14 AM
Thank you for the info. The collar came off pretty easy so that may be the source of the leak and not the seal. I'll clean it and seal it tomorrow and hope that it fixes it. Thank you again.

Turning Wrenches / Counter shaft seal
August 24, 2019, 12:02:17 PM
I noticed my counter shaft seal is leaking and was wondering what seals the collar to the shaft? The engine was just completely rebuilt 200 miles ago. Should I use a little sealer on the inside of the collar to the shaft?  Sorry if this is a dumb question.
