I'm not sure how accurate these are because Yamaha documents have a lot of errors, and Yamaha was notorious for poor record keeping, especially in the early days. The YD3 number seems suspect considering it was was one of their early models. It's hard to believe the number could be that high. These are based on serial number ranges:

1963 YD3         25,232
1968 YG5T       10,942

Mine is number R3-00699

3XV serial number range, and casting numbers for each version.



3XV2 500 produced
3XV5 500 produced
3XV7 500 produced

All home market bikes were restricted to 45hp then 40hp by the ignition and jetting.
