Quote from: 85RZwade on September 06, 2023, 03:48:58 PMSay what you will about HF, but they've always treated me well.

I have a lot of HF stuff. Some good, some bad. I've had their little ultrasonic cleaner for 10 years and it just crapped out on me. Yesterday I bought a new one to soak some parts in and it worked for 3 minutes and won't turn back on. It's hit or miss. I also purchased the benchtop media blaster and it's fantastic.

For sure.  Once you get an idea of what to buy and what not to, it's great.  I've had mostly great experiences with HF stuff.

The shock was adjustable, so I'd assume it's for that.  I don't really know what else it'd be for.

So a few weeks ago I dusted off my old HF angle grinder.  It was a 4.3 amp Drill Master.  I figured at least I could run it into the ground and have to change cutting wheels and flap discs less frequently.  Within about 5 seconds of running, the motor started smoking and then totally seized up.  I brought it back to the store to try my hand with the very liberal replacement policy.  I bought it probably 3-4 years ago and didn't buy an extended warranty.  After some grumbling and telling me he wasn't supposed to exchange it, the cashier let me swap it out for a 5 amp Warrior grinder if I bought the extended warranty for $6.  So far the newer one is great and way lighter than my Makita, which it huge for me as I use them one handed most of the time.  No motor heating up so far, although the head does get pretty hot.  I'm planning on changing the grease out and hope that helps.  I'll certainly be keeping an eye out because I'd buy another one on sale so I can have dedicated cut off wheel, grinding disc, and flap disc grinders.

I think I would too lol.

I was under the impression that basically everything on the RD400 C, D, and E were interchangeable.  There were a lot of changes to the Daytona though.

Nice score!  I really like that blue one.

I'll save that one for later.  His channel has some really good short history docs.

Yeah, but you have to use a Visa prepaid card to get the discount.  Oh wait, nevermind.  You get the rebate on a prepaid Visa card.

Quote from: rodneya on July 12, 2023, 07:53:44 PMA lot of people recommend self etch primers, but if you paint modern urethane paints over it you will get bubbles. Maybe in a week, maybe years later.

Really?  I haven't hear that before.  I'll have to keep that in mind.

Quote from: msr on July 11, 2023, 12:55:40 PMNorth Carolina's process isn't bad after you've gone through it once (and taken notes if your memory's crap like mine). I've done three bikes here and really only had any trouble with the first one. You do have to bring the vehicle to them for 'theft inspection' so bikes are much, much easier than cars.

That's what I'm counting on.  My RD400, G3SS, FZR frankenbike and Datsun 260z will all have to go through that process.

That's pretty slick.  I usually drop a socket into the back of the piston and use a ratchet with an extension on it to rotate the piston.

Good score!  I don't think many would be able to turn one down at that price.
