I found these for sale.  To my inexperienced eye they look like DGs and I would pass.

The guy thinks they are for RD350 or 400.  $100.

Would they be a decent street pipe for a stock or mildly (pipes, boost, squish, 30mm VMs, emission removal) modified 400F?  I am capable of fab work to change flanges etc.

Thanks!

I don't think they're DG's.  If I had to guess I'd say Bassani's.  I'm probably wrong though!

Thanks, hmm... from what I remember of the old thread on the original site, Bassani was a good brand.  I remember I liked his ads.

Second attempt to find the pipe id thread paid off:

I'm no wiser after the first page, will dive deeper after dark.

It's a 3 section chamber with an integral silencer.  I guess the integral chamber suggests a street pipe.

look like bassani to me. def not j&r. how long is the silencer, thats the defining feature usually. they are super long on the bassanis. unless they are allspeeds or another uk brand? :umm:

^ thanks.
yup bassani. the cone welding around the mount confirms it to me

The fifth reply here, I thought these might be J&R's (look shorter than Bassani). --  www.2strokeworld.net/forum/index.php?topic=1086.msg11007#msg11007

OK, thanks guys!  So, should I grab them either way?  Considering my previously mentioned build plans?  Or should I be saving my sheckels for SpecIIs or the new Moto Carreras?   It is highly unlikely  they will bolt on to my 400F.   Of course if they are good pipes I would want Garrett's sweet new flange mounts anyway.

Thanks for your input!

JB Weld

They kind of look like Bassani from what I remember (old forum) they don't exactly look like DG as the silencer is one diameter the entire length.

Thanks!  I'll see if the old Pipe ID Thread was save-able from the old thread.  I took our venerable SiteMaster's advice and saved everything I could at the time.  I remember that what was there did not go very many pages deep.  Hopefully there will be someone's recollections about them.

Did anybody run them?  Any advice?  Thanks!

Makes sense, definitely not Allspeeds anyway. Allspeeds have a slight increase in diameter before the muffler. Also, the mufflers are fitted straight on to the baffle cone, so they angle out a bit at the rear.
But the design of headpipe/ divergent cone/parallel section/convergent (baffle) cone is very much like Allspeeds and Higgspeed RD pipes. Maybe those two companies copied Bassani, at least to a degree?

Thanks a bunch, I'll take a stock muffler and head pipe with me and go take a look.

SUPERTUNE

Bassani pipes...I can tell by the pipe mount strap and the stinger clip in baffle.
I have a set still and won't sell them...love the old school look of them.
Great power, way better than DG, but all torque!
They don't rev much but a blast to ride on F cylinders with low exhaust port if a US 2V0 cylinder.
