Turning Wrenches / Re: cleaning crank area

Yup, I just went through this...  I tried to clean it out for hours..  finally split the cases, it would have been bad news if I didn't.  Better safe than sorry.

Yes, I just bought some, not those exact ones but they are Auxito.  They are extremely bright and I am very happy with them.  I put them on right after the gap so anyone who saw the bike there, they were not in yet.

Thanks Guys, I appreciate all the kind words about the bike.   Very nice to meet the guys and gals at the Gap and finally put some faces to names.  Mark, thanks as always, I had a blast and it was totally worth the trip even though it was short lived.

The bike still has a ways to go, the seat isn't finished, it needs some more/softer padding and a cover, it's coming, 😎.  I spent a lot of time on my riding position, it is how I like it, I like my knees up around the tank as I grab very hard with my knees and legs, I'm also a pretty small sized guy. I'm going to ride it and enjoy the hell out of it until winter and then I can tune and tweek...  unfortunately here in Michigan I will have about 5-7 months..😎😎😎.

Turning Wrenches / Re: Drilling a hole in the frame?

With the load coming from the vertical tube right in that area I would not recommend it.

Looks to me like the shim that goes on the kickstart shaft before you put on the clutch cover.  Not unusual for them to get left/lost in there.  Probably went through some gears and that's what broke it up.

Damn..  this is only 4 hrs. from me.  I'll gladly take one bike as payment for delivering the other one to the buyer..😜😜

I thought the shim came with the economy kit?  No?

I have to admit, I think it is 100% legit...  this guy sounds exactly like I would picture him, as the overly proud owner of this kart.  Good luck to anyone who gives this a go...   :whoop: :toot:

General Chatter / Re: Vitos RD350 crankshaft
July 14, 2020, 06:24:41 PM
I had Joe Spooner, a noted engine builder here on the board, build my engine.  I used a Vito's crank. He was very skeptical at first, after he put it in I asked him what he thought.  He said he was very impressed and would absolutely consider one for a build of his own..

Also, I forget why/what but I had to ask them a couple questions via the email on their website.  I got a very prompt answer with all the info I needed, along with a very cheerful attitude!

As mentioned, please take off the gaiters...😎.  Other than that, beautiful bike.  Let's all hope he sells a ton of them and someone like KTM follows suit with something similar but more affordable  :whoop: :whoop:

Turning Wrenches / Re: XS switch on an R5
June 25, 2020, 12:04:47 PM
Yes, I used that one, sort of..  I bought the black one not chrome.  I don't know if there is any difference.  I really like the switch, it works great.  The only issue I had was they did not send any wiring info with it.  After a few phone calls they finally emailed me a color code, hooked it up quickly after that.  I have a printed version of what the wires are, if you have any issues let me know and I can send it to you.

I've had comments both ways for sure.  While on my old RD I had a Harley guy laugh at me at a gas station and say " well, at least you're riding"..  And other times while riding my RZ I've had numerous guys on sport bikes go out of their way to get up next to me and yell things like "that two stroke is awesome, I want one so bad.."   People who don't know and appreciate all types of motorcycles are just that..  people who don't know.
