Title: 520 conversion
Post by: pdxjim on February 02, 2020, 10:15:24 PM
Doing 520 chain/sprox conversion on my LC.  I would assume it's v. similar to RD350/400 in this regard

Got the 520 front sprocket. Got the standard 4L0 CS spacer and nut. Got a new tab washer.

As I suspected, the CS nut bottoms out on the splines before tightening down on the sprocket.

Looks like I need a washer/spacer on the outside between the sprocket and the tab washer.

Am I correct that "clutch thrust washer" 360-16154 will fit and give the appropriate clearance?

Crude measure as pictured looks to be +/- 1" ID which is what the splines measure.

On my RD350A  (aircooled), the 520 countershaft sprocket has extra "meat" on the outside, to make up for the difference between 520 and 530.

Def not thick enough.  Needs about 3mm.

Thx for the idea, tho.

This is what I have on both of mine and have used on others that I've built. It's just a shim or I've seen them referred to as a machinery or machine washer. It's .047 thick, OD 1.50 and the ID is 1.01. I just get them at the hardware store. I think you can also get them Tractor Supply. Nothing special at all. Cost about a buck.
