Turning Wrenches / Vacuum gauge set
August 29, 2023, 12:03:23 PM
I just bought this factory Honda vacuum gauge set off Ebay.
Not sure why they have adjustable valves on them other than possibly closing off  individual gauges for 2 or 3 cylinder engines maybe?
Are the valves really necessary for synchronization of carbs?
All the other sets I seen do not have them.

Pretty cool bike.
But I'll bet it made a better flat tracker than a mx bike.

I ordered this off of Ebay.

Reviews say when mixed correctly it's as good as Evaporust.
It's supposed to be a  super concentrated formula that 1 gallon will make 16 gallons of mix.
For $75 shipped to me that's a big savings.
The exhaust on my CB400F  is a one piece part and it needs derusting badly so to get it all covered in a old bathtub I use for big parts this stuff will be a huge savings, if it works as good as they claim.

Events / Rogers County Vintage Motorcycle Tour
August 21, 2023, 08:53:08 AM
Well that's a wrap folks for this 2023 Rogers County run!
My first time I ever put something like this together.
I'm very happy with the results.
I wasn't surprised at the low turn out due to extreme heat (104 degrees) but we still had 10 riders show and ride.
A great mix of old and new bikes. American,  Japanese and German bikes filled the lineup, we had riders from Texas, OKC and locals as well.
All told we rode 170 miles.
No big bike issues made for a great day of riding throughout Rogers County Oklahoma,  ride through 5 towns and across dozens of waterways. At our halfway point in the tiny town of Vera Ok we stopped at the Vera Jailhouse Grille. Excellent food!
This just might become a annuls thing!

General Chatter / Evaporust and a Lotta love.
August 12, 2023, 03:23:29 PM
My my how bad could a fire be to all your sockets, Allen wrenches and other small tools?
So bad it will make you cry.
But thank God for a big bucket full of Evaporust.
2 weeks of deep sleep bath, and then a day of  draining, rinsing, drying and a heavy coat of WD40.

LIKE John Lennon said..

Events / Rogers County Vintage Motorcycle Tour

Calling all vintage bikes!
Only a month away to the Rogers County vintage & modern motorcycle tour.
Don't forget to mark your calendars!

Hey folks! Heads up!

I am putting together a vintage motorcycle ride that will be held in August.
This would be a ride geared mainly towards vintage bikes though I'm not going to exclude motorcycles that would not fall in that category. For those wanting to come along for the ride here are some details:
So it will be conducted in Rogers County Oklahoma. It will be almost 100% on back country roads. Very little highway except to possibly cross over or get to another road. Lots of back country hills, lots of twisty turns. Oklahoma being the way it is where the roads are laid out in a grid pattern with crossroads every mile or so.. I've tried to choose as many roads that are not that fashion. So there will be some long stretches of rolling hills and flat stuff too. There will be a few 4 way stops at intersections as well. Pretty much a smorgasbord of varying roads and conditions. There will be no dirt or gravel sections though some small parts where the county has done minor road repairs. I've ridden the route extensively and will give everyone a heads up where those areas are.
So the travels will not exceed more than 50-55 mph speeds for any length of time. Average cruising speeds will be around 35-45 mph. The distance will be approximately 130 miles all told.
Therefore lightweight bikes that are small 100 - 50 CC's would probably not be great riding choices as I expect bigger bikes will likely be represented. Even so I won't tell anyone they aren't invited but riders will have to make that decision for themselves.
I have all the details pretty much ironed out.  I do have the route already mapped out.
I will share those details at a later date once I get things a little bit more set.
We will have a few stops for fuel, water and a quick rest. I have a great little restaurant that will be ready for all who join in can have lunch.
I wanted to put together something just for my area for a pretty laid back ride up here. Of course anybody will be invited.
Like I said August 19th is the date as that would be a proper time frame to do this for 2023 that way where I'm not interfering with or getting in the middle of anybody else's established local rides.
So let me know what you think. Please give me a holler or comment on this post.
  Thanks.. Scott.

** Update **

The Starting point will be at Claremore Regional Airport just east of Claremore Oklahoma.

We will have a SAG wagon and trailer joining the ride that will follow us. The wagon and trailer will carry gas, drinks and snacks. The trailer will be available for any bikes unable to complete the ride. The truck is a four door so there will be plenty of room for those riders that may need transport.
Also we will have at minimum two people on the ride who are 100% trained in emergency first aid care and the truck will carry a first aid kit.

General Chatter / Amazon craziness!
July 12, 2023, 10:58:36 AM
I ordered and paid fore a new Vevor 30 liter ultrasonic cleaner from Amazon 2 weeks ago.  They said it would be here in 3 days.
The tracking number then showed it went on a wild 7 day cross country trip to several states I don't live in. Finally it showed last Tuesday that it was in the Tulsa distribution center and would arrive the next day. I had errands to run that day but the UPS drivers know I have a package drop box for deliveries (I'm very rural) so I wasn't worried. I get home that afternoon and there's a notice stuck to my door from UPS saying they couldn't leave the item because it had a signature only delivery ticket. Damn it!
The tracking showed "Delivery attempted" but failed for the above reason but they would attempt again the next day.😕
That morning the tracking showed that it was on a truck and would be delivered that day.. between 7AM and 8PM .. ugh!
So I stayed at the house ALL day and night.. and they never showed up.  The tracking said "On the truck" until about 6AM when it changed to "Undeliverable" 😡
I spent a good part of the day calling UPS but that was a waste of time.  Thursday I got a email from Amazon saying the item was "Undeliverable" and they would refund my money. Fine! Whatever.
Monday.. I check my bank and indeed they did return the money.
 Tuesday.. !!!
9:30AM I'm sitting in my living room and a UPS truck shows up in my driveway and out comed a big box that it crushed, ripped and showing lot of travel wear. It's the damn cleaner! 🤨
..and the driver dumps it on my porch and jumped in the truck and took off before I got to the door.
I bring the poor thing inside cur open the box.  The cleaner it dented on a corner. The lid handle was smashed a broken on one side but everything else looked fine.
 Ok then.
 Now what to do?

Turning Wrenches / Powering coils

Interesting tech tip on coil power loss and a fix for it.
This may be old news for some.
The site it comes from is a good resource.

Though I  love 2T primarily  I'm still a big vintage whatever fan.
Always wanted one of those Honda 350/4 bikes but it never happened.
Yesterday a good friend called and asked me if I was interested in his grandfather's old bike.
I took one look and jumped!
 74-75? Honda 400/4 Supersport
Complete and very low original miles. Needs a carb clean, points check and a battery.
I'll ride it a bit but really it's gonna be a bike to have around so when my son's come visit they will have something to ride.
Oh yeah!
