General Chatter / Happy & Sad
July 05, 2023, 06:41:08 PM
I ordered a R5 seat cover and foam from HVC
Looks great and I am really impressed with the quality.  Can't wait to install it. 😀😃😘

I also ordered the R5 tank badges they offer.
What crap. Nothing more than thick decals. 😕🫤🙁

There's got to be better out there. I can't bring myself to spending $$$ on paint and the sticking crap fake decals on my tank. I'm happy to pay up for quality.

This is not a dig on Brad. He sells what he has. I just didn't know.

Pretty nice looking. I'm thinking the asking price isn't out of line if all said is true.

Micro Muscle: Under 100cc's / I love this bike!
June 27, 2023, 08:11:57 PM
Here's my newest replacement project. I lost a lot in the fire.
A good friend David Billingsly helped me ride a Tiddler run last year by loaning me his beautiful LS2 100. I fell in love with it!
Been looking for one ever since.
 Today I scored!
A kinda complete bike with a good engine and a real crusty parts bike.
So now on to the parts acquisition stage!

General Chatter / No serial stamp?
June 26, 2023, 09:04:36 AM
Never seen a case not stamped with a serial number.
This one has the R5 prefix then..nothing.
But attached to the case is this sticker.
Wht the hell?

Show Off / Lucky me!
June 23, 2023, 04:52:32 PM
Went to Harbor Freight today to get a couple of gallons of Evaporust.  Cost me $60. I needed more as my stash disappeared in my shop fire.
The hard tools in my destroyed tool boxes of course were salvageable but now are rusty from sitting in foam and water.
Thus a 5 gallon bucket and the Evaporust are needed.
But to my surprise at check out I was told that today is HF's free tool day. Spend over 50 bucks and get a free tool.
I got a right angle grinder.
Which replaces the crappy HF grinder I've had and used for 10 years. It disappeared in the fire also.
I hope it's as tough as the old one. That cheap thing sure surprised me at how long it has lasted.

General Chatter / R5/RD Seat question
June 23, 2023, 10:53:10 AM
Will a R5 foam and cover fit on a RD seat pan?

I have a R5 pan but it's not in good condition. I also have a RD seat that needs a new cover and probably foam but the pan is very nice.

Looking at Dunlops K70 or K81.
But I know what's offered now are not the same from back in the day.
So what other options are you using?

Turning Wrenches / RD - R5 clutch question
June 16, 2023, 02:55:43 PM
Going through the write up on Chuck's section on the 6 speed swap.
 There this:

"Whether you have the 3 bolt retainer models or not... you start with the late model thrust washers @3.00mm thick and 43.80mm O.D. and use 2 of the same."

So I'm reading this and thinking he's telling us to us 2 of the thrust washers indicated on the shaft before installing the clutch.  Am I getting this right?

I think the seller is posting a little too cheap. Somebody is gonna get a good deal.
