I have run a 297mm XS650 disc with an adapter for a RD caliper on a RD400 racer for years. Never ran out of brakes.
A TZ has the same disc, just thinner, 5mm thick
It is easy to adapt a 297mm disk off an early CB750
If you can find a slider off an early TZ you don't need the adapter.

I am under the impression that a disc off a '89 FZR400/600, or an early FJ is the same dimensions, so a direct bolt on and is a floater. (There is no REAL performance gain with a floater, but they don't warp like a solid mounted disc).

I bought a TZ350 with a dual disc setup off a TZ 750. I rode it ONCE, then swapped in a single disc setup. It slowed the steering noticeably with no real gain in brakes.

Would probably need a spacer too.
