General Chatter / Forum feedback

Couldn't find a more appropriate board to post this on.

Still cannot seem to get to the forum from the front page, might be stopping more than a few people dropping by the new forums.

You're probably already aware but anyway

Bought this today - have had my eyes on it for a while - it's been for sale since about October last year.

Trigger warning: this isn't a stock restoration - people who love old smokers restored to their former glory need not look further ;)
This has got to be one of the biggest mish mashes of bikes I've seen in a while.

Reminds me what a 12 year old would smash together to make the "ultimate" bike - having said that, I'm probably still a 12 year old at heart so interpret that how you will!

Points of note (or contention):

  • Aprilia RS250 MK II front forks and wheel
  • Cagiva Mito 125 rear subframe and gear
  • Suzuki RG 250 exhausts grafted onto RZ exausts just before expansion chambers
  • Honda VFR400 rear shock, swingarm and wheel
  • Yamaha R1 Tacho - plan on swapping this to a Kawasaki Z750 one (it'd match the red/white theme)
  • And a bunch of random non make specific aftermarket parts like Tyga carbon fenders, moto gadget indicators, and Motogadget M unit Blue...
Full parts run down is on here: http://www.lanesplittergarage.com/public.cfm?buildID=27875CB298699580FB59F3B930632241

It's such a pig dog, I love it.

Need to work out if there's anything I can replace from any other manufacturer not currently gracing this bike.
A homage to all motorbike brands? a 12 year olds idea of cool? an atrocity against classic bikes?

Anyway, she's not running at present, I think it just needs a new coil (which is on it's way) a tune and a heck of a lot of cleanup work to finish this build up.
Wiring is a mess, the pillion storage area has no base, no way to bolt down either seat ... I'm sure I'll find more!

The 4-Stroke Blasphemy Forum / Lightning Strike

Should be getting a bit more info released on this bad boy this month.

$12,998USD
150 mph (241km/h)
150 mile range (241km)
35 mins to charge (100+ miles in 20mins on Ultra fast charge - level 3)

https://electrek.co/2019/01/17/lightning-electric-motorcycle-strike/
https://blog.motorcycle.com/2019/03/06/manufacturers/lightning-manufacturers/lightning-motorcycles-continues-teasing-strike-with-charging-options/

Seems pretty nice for 13K but as always the devil will be in the details.
Details of which as of yet are still pretty sparse - not many days left in this month so we should know soon.

General Chatter / RD400 Ottoco Heads
March 21, 2019, 08:24:54 AM
Looking for any expressions of interest in these - or even just someone to give me what a price indication I could expect to get for them. Could always try my luck on eBay I guess.

I've had them since about 2012/2013 (new) - they've sat on a shelf - my RD project got shelved when a purchase on here ended up with me around $1000 down and no engine.
After months of back and forward with the seller I gave up on ever receiving the RD400 engine - sold most of my gear and did something different (went electric) for a while to get the bad taste out of my mouth.

Anyway looking to sell the heads again, as it was the one item from my pile of RD350/400 parts that wouldn't sell for some reason.

I cannot believe these sorts of things are now going for over $800USD? (http://www.fastfromthepast.com/h-rhsc400)
Weren't they like $500 new or is my memory a bit of a failure?
Alternatively is there something different about the new ones on FFTP and HVC?

Any reasonable offer considered, otherwise I may just get them out of their boxes and use them as sexy book ends.

Show Off / 2007 Cagiva 125
March 21, 2019, 07:59:18 AM
My fiance wanted to learn to wrench on something so I bought this little beast. *

She's got to get it roadworthy (no lights, mirrors, etc and a general tidy up required) and get her license to boot.

Parts slowly trickling in from late night internet splurging - hope to have her on the road in a couple of weeks.

Nice to have a 2T in the garage again, look forward to borrowing this one for a blat or two.
At least until my RZ250 arrives... assuming my purchase goes through without issues.

*Disclaimer: I might love the Mito shape - so when she's done with it and moved onto something else, I'm sure I'll find a way to keep it :P
