I am in the process of building a 1979 RD400 Daytona Special.  After replacing the swing arm Bushings, I noticed that the swing arm can be moved from side to side about 0.5 to 1 mm.  It is not sloppy loose, but I can move one side to other easily by hand.  Looks like the Two bushings + The spacer length > swing Arm with Brass Bushing. Is this Normal, or what kind of spacer you guys put to remove the side way movement.

there should be thin shim washers in the cup washers to reduce that play.

KANDY

Yes, I saw that in the Diagram, Does that go between the washer and the bushing. Then only the play will get reduced.

it goes between the cup washer and the bushing yes. the ID of the shim washer is larger than the steel part of the bushing and takes up the play. check when swingarm bolt is torqued to spec. if its just sitting in there you wont get a good reading. the frame will flex in when tightened up and take up play.

Thanks Mark,
You cleared all the doubts.
