Events / And so it begins
April 30, 2021, 05:22:30 PM

Test Ride complete RD 350. No issues ran good.
60 MPH wind gusts here. I got 15 miles in during a lull.
Didn't want to chance it on the RZ with new tire. It will get done tomorrow. GMC pickup serviced and ready.

Turning Wrenches / TM32 conversion
January 19, 2021, 10:36:11 AM
My good friend Frank B came over day before yesterday and we started prepping our TM32s for installation. We used 3 MM OD brass tubing sourced from McMaster Carr for the oil lines and a 7/64 (2.7 MM) drill bit. We had to ream the holes just a bit and then a drop of red loctite and Bob's your Uncle.

I bid on it on a whim because it was cheap and looked good in the pictures
My RD leans about 1/2 inch too far. It looks surprisingly robust and is adjustable. Install pictures will follow.

Turning Wrenches / 75 RD 350 petcock rebuild
November 11, 2020, 04:51:34 PM

Petcock was leaking from where it goes up against the bottom of the tank. Thanks John at Economy Cycle for the rebuild kit and some fuel lines that actually fit. I bead blasted the petcock as it was looking pretty grimy. While I had the tank off I installed my new digital turn signal flasher from NAPA and a used rear brake light switch from my 74 RD parts bike. After a 12 hour leak check I took the RD out for a little 25 mile romp in the record high temperatures of 77 Degrees on the 10th of November. Fun was had. Wheelies were pulled. Speed limits were decimated. No leaks were noted in the post-flight inspection. The factory petcock attachment screws were replaced with stainless Allen head hardware from Rural King per M in SC and the unobtainum O rings for said screws were replaced with John Deere diesel o-rings. The face plate screws both stripped and those were replaced with screws cannibalized from an old RD tach.

I paid$150 for just the brackets for my conversion so this is cheap so far. I think I had a little over $100 in the rest of the stuff shopping around on EBay for good used. I went with an R1 master cylinder on mine. The difference in braking is unbelievable.
