I'm not saying all VM28's...
Well,  I think your not familiar with 2V0 carbs are you? That is the subject here.
C

I am not familiar with the 2V0 specs, but I thought they could be refitted with 175 nozzle, 5l1 needle and jetted just like a 1A1 VM28.

NO,
They have a 4.0 bastard slide and are a total bitch to take off, take apart, sync and rejet... they have banked shaft carbs.
And the lifetime of time to do and really never be just jetted right. Trust me, I bought one brand new when I was 19.
Way worse than the RZ carbs. At least with the RZ carbs they jet pretty well with the Toomy jet kits.
Like I said, they're for a show bike not a rider...

Ah ok I get it now. I'm glad they never made it to Canada!   :vroom:

You guys were so lucky on the models you got...2R9 cylinders, a 3J7 ram head instead of the crappy porting 2V0 cylinders and the 2V0 head and junk carbs and emission system.

Why are you saying the VM28 are close to junk, I don't understand. I know new and/or bigger carbs are "better", but that doesn't necessarily mean VM28 belong in the spare bin.

I use stock carbs on my bikes and they work great, am I missing something?

The stock 2V0 VM28SS carbs are 100% total junk! I agree with Chuck.

I just finished 2V0 carb complete disassembly/reassembly for ultrasonic cleaning (to prepare for selling). It's a pain! They are the worst design.  It was a big reminder about why I ditched them.

When I bought my Daytona it had rejetted 2V0 carbs. I struggled with getting it to run right for years and it was a huge effort when they needed to be cleaned. About 5 years ago I finally swapped them out for 1A1 carbs and the difference is like night and day. Should have made that change a long time ago! So much easier now. And I was able to get the jets dialed-in in an afternoon.

If anyone would like to "appreciate" the VM28SS carb experience first hand, I have a set for sale.  :dawg:
