I'm replacing my oil lines and I bought the oem hose that runs from the oil tank to the pump. There is a ring around the hose on one end (several inches from the end) and I can't tell if it should be installed on the oil tank or pump side.

I can't find any diagrams for this and I'm guessing it goes toward to tank side, but not sure.

Could it be that holds the spring and keeps it from slipping down, that goes over the hose to protect it, on the tank end of the hose?

That makes sense. I definitely don't have that spring, but I'm guessing it won't matter. Thanks for the heads up.

This is correct.
The oil tank supply line to the pump, 90445-09122-00 HOSE (5-700), has a rib nearer to one end. The end with the rib is the upstream end of the hose and the rib is designed to capture the spring 90501-085L6-00 (formerly 90501-08410-00), which protects the hose from chafing.
