How exciting!  I'll cross my fingers for no expensive noises!

Jspooner:  Thanks for the Autolube check procedure.  I'll find Chuck's write up too.

I'm just finishing the re-upholstery of my Benelli Cobra seat, the last piece of it's resurrection (until the crank seals go!).  After that I'll dive into the resurrection of my 400F, which has also been asleep since before I got it, and almost as long.  I finished paying it off and took it home in '03 but it had already been sitting since at least '98 with a front brake cyl. problem, a fresh 2nd O.S. bore and only 5100 mi.  So maybe only 22 years derelict.  (I know, I know, but I was always a dirtbike guy, and had trauma from my older, street bike riding brother with crazy close-calls and hits from the Commuting Wars.)

Here is JT's checklist, if it'll upload in this format, for all of those who might need it.  I sure did and will.  I am not new to 2Ts but I am new to RDs.

I don't see mention of an auto lube check or pre-mix on this one.  Maybe Chuck and other Gurus (Jspooner, Mark, SoCal250 etc. (note diplomatic alphabetizing)) here can comment on it or provide their own.  It would be great to have a couple in The Tech Library.

Auto parts store assortment of neoprene or vinyl (?, colored anyway) vacuum caps come to mind.

My search skills are minimal, but I didn't find a checklist here on the new site for bikes that have been sitting.  Somewhere I've got the one JT of RDs Only wrote.  I'll look after dinner.

Good luck!

Wow!  Beautiful!   :vroom:

We are supposed to stay within 10 miles of home in Colorado.   :taz:

Got the Benelli fired up yesterday...  blew out 30 years of cobwebs!
This morning I have to do some plumbing repairs at my wife's place, but then after some maintenance it should be wheelie time!

Two Strokes emerge!   And one washed and rolled into the garage!
The Benelli Cobra was given to me in 1990 because it had no spark.  We shall (finally!) see about that!

You are a true two stroke fetishist! Benelli, Husky and Bultaco! That's awesome!

Czakky, I do love the hit of high performance 2T power!  (Dig your R5!)  I do have a few 4Ts though:

'55 Indian Woodsman (re-badged Royal Enfield Bullet 500cc) basket case, needs magneto re-capped.
'82 KZ750 ELR tribute project that need it's carbs rebuilt and a
'70 MTD 3.5hp Tecumseh powered, torque converter minibike (for sale probably).

Turns out the Benelli besides no spark, doesn't have power to the head/tail circuits.  So I took the switch apart for cleaning and inspection.  Nothing obvious yet.  Stop and horn are working.  Here's a photo of a T shirt I think is hilarious:

Thanks Chuck, dammit!  I was a little too late and missed out.  Arg! :(

You snooze, you lose!  Back to saving my sheckels...

excellent old school street pipes. for the money, yes, grab em. ive seen busted dgs going for more and by comparison, not nearly as good.

Thanks a bunch, I'll take a stock muffler and head pipe with me and go take a look.

Thanks!  I'll see if the old Pipe ID Thread was save-able from the old thread.  I took our venerable SiteMaster's advice and saved everything I could at the time.  I remember that what was there did not go very many pages deep.  Hopefully there will be someone's recollections about them.

Did anybody run them?  Any advice?  Thanks!

OK, thanks guys!  So, should I grab them either way?  Considering my previously mentioned build plans?  Or should I be saving my sheckels for SpecIIs or the new Moto Carreras?   It is highly unlikely  they will bolt on to my 400F.   Of course if they are good pipes I would want Garrett's sweet new flange mounts anyway.

Thanks for your input!

Thanks, hmm... from what I remember of the old thread on the original site, Bassani was a good brand.  I remember I liked his ads.

Second attempt to find the pipe id thread paid off:

http://www.2strokeworld.net/forum/index.php?topic=177.0

I'm no wiser after the first page, will dive deeper after dark.

It's a 3 section chamber with an integral silencer.  I guess the integral chamber suggests a street pipe.

General Chatter / Expansion Chamber ID help please

I found these for sale.  To my inexperienced eye they look like DGs and I would pass.

The guy thinks they are for RD350 or 400.  $100.

Would they be a decent street pipe for a stock or mildly (pipes, boost, squish, 30mm VMs, emission removal) modified 400F?  I am capable of fab work to change flanges etc.

Thanks!

AAAltered, make me an offer that would make you happy.  USPS shipping would probably be $9.

Here are a couple pics I failed to post last night 'cause I'm such a forum newb:
