Just a few years ago you could get a good one here in Canada for less than $1000. nobody wanted them , I know I picked a bunch for $500. - 600. Now they are thin on the ground and even project will run $2000. - 3000. Really nice ones go south of the border , same for RZ350 and RZ500 .

Motor look the same as the CB-1 and CBR600 F1

Most of these japanese 400 were smaller version of 600's we got . I had a few Honda CB-1 400 and the motor was based on the CBR600 F1 1988-90 .

XS360 used basically the same rear wheel as the RD350

It's at the very bottom of the desirability RD and pre RD ladder here in Canada

I had the chance to spend 2 Saturday in the bins of an old Yamaha dealer here in Montreal 5 years ago and I ended with a truck load of NOS and used RD/RZ parts for cheap like new in boxes RD400 and LC exhausts for $75. Wish I could go back and buy the stuff I left there .

Turning Wrenches / Re: daytona special swingarm

I installed a XS360 1976 swing arm on one of my Daytona , it's one inch longer and look better . The rear wheel stay at the same heigh since the shocks are angled and bolted a little bit higher . Just need a new torque arm bracket . Daytona pic on top , XS360 lower .

I made a spring compressor very similar to this one , easy to make and very effective .

I use a comparable set up to pull the front swing arm bearings on my RZ350 and 500

Called a local shop to get the frame powder coated. Was told $250.  Hell yeah, not a bad price. So I'll check that off the list and drop it off with my tax return.

Called a local chrome shop for the fenders.

$350 to $400 a piece... OK goodbye.

I just bought a new RD400 front fender from the dealer for much less , $120 USD

For small parts you can home plate with nickel , it's the same process as Zinc plating

Speaking of XS360 , I installed a 1976  XS360 swing on one of my Daytona  , 1 inch longer , the nice thing with this swing is that it use the same shocks length as the Daytona , the lower shocks mounting points are positioned higher to compensate for the greater angle . Height of the swing to the ground is the same and IMO it look better as the rear shocks are now at the same angle as the middle front side tube . I will weld a bracket for the torque arm .
