July 12, 2021, 01:37:42 AM
Does the Coil wire to the spark plugs go through or over the upper frame rail?

Thanks.

General Chatter / Re: Nuts & Bolts
March 16, 2021, 09:44:07 PM
Thank you for your reply, your Information led me to a simple answer. Yamaha part numbers are braken down to 3 sets of numbers, the second set is the size and length of the screw. For example 06012 is 6mm screw with 12mm length. Yamaha does not use 6 or 8mm fine thread, most are 1.5. Generally 1.5 pitch is the common one for most bolts. No exact answer on the exact pitch info.
Great find....

Wondering if there is a comprehensive list of the nuts & bolts for the RD400. Size/Pitch/Lenght?

Turning Wrenches / RD400 Kick Stand
March 02, 2021, 11:04:14 PM
I have 2 kick stand and don't know which one is the correct part for an RD400. One mounts to frame by a screw that goes through and and nut. Second one is threaded and the bolt screws on to the stand through the mounting holes. Basically one has two same size holes and the second one has a large hole and the second hole is smaller and threaded. The stands look identical other than the mounting holes.
I Have 2 other RD's and each have a different stand on them.

Turning Wrenches / Coil and resistor
February 23, 2021, 05:36:46 PM
I am missing a resistor for my 77 RD400 restoration project. Is the updated coil that negates the use of resistor a good idea? If yes, where can I buy it in US so I don't have to buy it from Yambits in UK?.
I usually like to stay with the original when restoring a bike but since I'm missing the resistor, I'm thinking maybe I should replace the coil's with built-in resistor.
Thanks.

Turning Wrenches / Re: RD400 Headlight
February 22, 2021, 12:56:37 PM
Thank you for the replies. What I thought to be easy to find is getting difficult!. I have the lens in good condition but bulb was bad and I took it out. Maybe have to figure something else, can not find one!. Any suggestions?
Yambits light is for vehicles driving on the opposite side of the road and does not work for use in US.

Does the SX400 headlight fit the RD400 (Glass only)? Is RD400 headlight a sealed Beam?

Turning Wrenches / RD400 Master Cylinders
December 10, 2020, 01:53:45 PM
I have had a nightmare in the past trying to get RD400 master cylinders rebuilt or restored. What is an optional aftermarket setup that would work. I don't think I want to deal with original on my latest build. Any suggestions would be appriciated.
