Title: RD400 Project Under Way
Post by: Joe6v6 on March 07, 2024, 02:27:41 PM
Hello - First post here, more to come. I recently acquired a 77 RD400 and have been in the process of gathering information and ideas as to what this bike will evolve into. .  .   If I were to wire this bike similar to the attached drawing would the pictured resistor be still be necessary? Thanks for any info : Joe

the resistor depends on the coils you use. any coil that has a primary resistance of 3-5 ohms does NOT need a resistor. anything under that, such as stock rd400 coils (like 1.2 ish ohms) does. I assume you are getting new coils since ht eold ones are getting very old, so no, you don't need the resistor
