I Cant get the buttom bolt to catch the thread Inside the fork tube

I beleieve i have even tried every combi..
Makes No sense, done it for hours 😅

Its the right bolt as this was Taking apart of a functioning fork 8 months ago..

Got these all balls bearing set for the front and rear.

The rear has 3 bearings
2 big and one smaller

Now if i fit both big bearings on the sprocket side, it Cant take Any seal, so do I only fit one bearing or? 🤔🤔

So are they( VM 30mm) just easy plug and play with stock throttle cable?
Iam considering 30mm carbs

Its a rebuild engine with y boot k&n filter and spec 2 classic pipes

Tips are welcome

Cut up My old one, it was welded on etc.
Got this of ebay, believe it said early xs400 shaft

So far so good.

Just wondered is this ok or?
Never got to measure the lenght contra the one i had
Its not quite sticking out but the lever sits allright?

Yeah so i did a major fuck up.
I tried to fit the ignition ( power dynamo) but not removing the pin first.

This resultet in me pressing that pin in nice and tight.
I have warmed the area around it and used a vice / plier
It wont budge!!!


Anyone have Any ideas

Many engine i have seen have the 2 small rubber bushings
in here

But what is it?
I believe i have seen this in haynes manual but also means i have one big rubber mount in spare from the Kit 🤔

Rd400 frame are Hard to Come by, but a guy had a Rd250. Frame

So, is that frame as the rd400, iam Thinking with rd400 engine, front end, swingarm, rims etc etc

So, i have a rd400 frame Which had been modified to fit a rz350 lc engine
But it came with the matching number rd400 engine as well.. Woule be nice if they could be together again and do a stock matching number rd

But because the lc engine was in the frame it had been cut and modified, some bracket was removed etc.

Question is, anyone had similar or tried to repair a frame?
This Will require fabrication the left side frame bracket and weld on the the frame.

Iam thinking regarding having the engine to sit right in the frame

So, i thought i had the new bearing for this replacement ( see picture)
But Its a bit bigger outsider, but fits the shaft and appears the engine as well..

Its the same bearing as sits oppsite end on the other gear shaft

Can anyone confirm or maybe shead some light on this bearings issue

The bigger bearing is new

Allright, anyone with ideas on this issue.?

I have proberly gone 50km so far on the rd400, and changed the left side sparkplug twice.
It just gives up, yesterday it started to 4 stroke and -'shot' out of the left exhaust, i thought might ss well try.
Took the spark plug out ( Black,) and it worked again.

Got a new set of rubber mounts for my build ( engine).
There are 2 long rubber mounting inserts in the Kit, why?


Is it not true that there goes 1 long rubber mounting into the top rear of the engine case and the rest are the small ones?

So just sorting out the parts, Awaiting frame from powder.
So, I noticed these 'ears' on the new manifolds i got. 28/30 carbs i got Them fore.

What and how do this work with stock intake reeds?  Do I get other ones or saw/cut those ears off?

So, would like to order a set of braided brake lines for my bike from germany but need the lenght and thread in the front caliper

Iam using stock front, Besides a low superbike lsl handlebar, so iam guessong stock lenght?

Yeah so, thought i wanted some imput / tips /advice
My thought about this rd400 is it was gonna be somewhat reliable..

Its gonna get  a total rebuild with fresh crank, bore, pistons, Electronic ignition.

My thought was this :

Stock airbox with uni filter in it
Stock carbs
Manifold with cross over tube
Boyesen reeds
Spec 1 classic pipes

What do you guys think? Anything to consider or sounds allright?
I do have a y boot air filter lying around as well.
