I want to see what great ideas our forum members have come up with for RD400 sidestands that work well with chambers. I am aware of HVC Cycle's kickstand relocation kit pictured, however $75 plus shipping would cost near $100. If I buy one, I'm going to want to figure out how to replicate it at a lower price.
I'm wondering if a stand off another bike might be a bolt on with minimal tweaking. Please share your knowledge.
bolt on? no. ive relocated and made quite a few but theres welding involved. you can make one that mounts to the stock location, use the knuckle , relocate the spring to the out side, buts it labor intense

Fellow member CDFFiredad has one of these on his (former Jan Zanutto) RD350. It's heavy as hell but it works. Maybe he could offer his opinion..?

As Seizer said, it's heavy and a tad short but it works and clears my Spec II's
When I got my bike there was no side stand, the original owner had cut off the mounting tab :umm: I got the kit from HVC and took
it down to my local welding shop ( I do have a welder, but wanted it professionally done for obvious reasons). It works perfect, no issues.

I'm just going through this with a RD400.
The problem isn't the kickstand, the problem is the angle of the lug on the frame. It points in towards the middle of the frame. If it was aligned with the frame, no sweat....
When you come up with something that doesn't involve re-locating that lug, let me know.
