Turning Wrenches / i gave in.

my shifter for my controls is very stiff. i did some research and i found someone on this site or another i can't remember. a guy had a post on how he took an old shifter and modified it to make a longer arm for leverage to make shifting easier. yes it does increase travel but for me it is not an issue. i actually have a rd350b shifter but i didn't want to cut it up. i found an aluminum shifter on amazon for $14.00. i can always put it back if i choose.

Turning Wrenches / r5 vs. rd350
April 19, 2023, 04:09:20 PM
i really don't know. i have only ridden reed valve rd's or a 1967 yr1. how does the r5 stand up to the rd. there are a lot of big fans of the pre reed valve so they must run pretty good.
thanks,

Show Off / road all three yesterday
March 25, 2023, 03:48:51 PM
i rode all three bikes yesterday. the rd350 after weeks of jetting almost ran the best. you can't beat the fuel injected HD.

75 rd350. the petcock leaks fuel out of nipples when turned off. It's more of a dribble that just leaks enough to be a mess. so if you remove the hoses to do a repair you need to cap off the petcock outlets with a vacuum cap. I've been through it a couple times and replaced the seals. it still leaks. i was thinking today that one of the screws to the fuel tank could not be sealed and fuel could be leaking past the threads and into the bowl of the petcock. would that make it not turn all the way off i don't know yet.

February 14, 2023, 05:18:01 PM
my rd350 has a y-boot with the tall k&n cone filter. my question is are we supposed to clean then oil the filters or i saw on the k&n sight they have a free flow filter that isn't oiled.

Turning Wrenches / 42 year old tool
January 27, 2023, 07:45:44 AM
this is a snap on tool originally made to remove the springs on pre 80's cars to replace the broken plastic headlight adjusters. works fantastic on the expansion chamber springs.

General Chatter / back in the day
January 23, 2023, 01:35:16 PM
i dusted off a manual i had on my shelf. i think if i had actually read this back then i would be way ahead on the 2 stroke technology. maybe that's why there aren't any finger prints on it.
i actually got this out because i was curious about what the dt360 head bolt torque was compared to my rd350. i actually think i have too much time on my hands. the dt toque is 15 foot lbs..
