I was trying to find the correct cables for the RD350 on the bench and realized that even though I have mostly the short slide carburetors I only have one set of cables that works with them.  When I went through the carbs to try to find long slides and tops I realized that I have two different tops for the short slides, one with the cable holder that screws into the top, and ones that have the longer bent swivel tube on them with the adjuster at the end of the tube.  I'm guessing that's why I have cables that appear to be for long slides, the difference in length from the cable holder to the slide.  I'm hoping I'm making sense as I don't want to dig out the parts right now to take pictures.

My question is; are both tops correct for the RD350?  Just curious.  As long as they work that's all that matters to me.  The bike was a bitsa when I got it and will remain one.  I just want to ride it.

Slides need to correspond with the tops. Get the short ones, easier to tune your carbs needle position on the go without unscrewing the stinking retainer to the slide.

When you say top you're talking about the cap/top and not the brass throttle cable adjustment  for syncing your carbs??
Do not underestimate the power of a two-stroke.

Yes, there are two different types of low top carb tops. I did not know this until I looked at HVC website for throttle cables.
The low top with the long curved adjuster and the high tops use the same cable.

Thanks!

I had taken photos and was going to post them.  I guess I will anyway as it's a side by side comparison.  Thought I had high-tops too, guess they're somewhere else.  I really need to organize my parts....

Those are both low top carb caps. Your slides should be a lot shorter than the tall top caps. :)
