Title: Blinker Pilot Light

Something to Remember:

Was putting together the LT2 that i got for my daughter.

Hooked up a battery.
Got to the blinker wiring. I had the flasher jumped for testing.

I got 6 volts @ each blinker wire, but the Instrument pilot light did not work.
went & got a beer, then the wiring diagram.

Both the right & left positive blinker wires go to the pilot light.
Wheres the Ground?

Had another sip of beer.
Did a continuity test for the 2 wires going to the PL.
Got continuity.

So, the PL uses the ground from the Off blinker wire circuit, when it travels thru the bulb to that ground.
In my case I had no blinkers or bulbs installed.

Other thing is the Horn circuit.  Its push to Ground, to complete the circuit.

Next thing is my Lights ON, key position, lights the cluster pilot light, but not the tail light.
The wiring diagram, shows the blue wire should be a direct connect to the rear, but.
There is no direct blue wire from the headlight shell to the rear, it goes back thru the ignition.

So time for another beer tonite.

In case anyone is wondering why the signals are wired like that, it's so you can have one dash indicator light for both the L and R signals. If it was wired with the 2 signal light positives to one side of the indicator light bulb and ground the other side of the bulb, all 4 of the signals would flash when you turned on just one side. The polarity is actually reversing at the indicator light bulb as you switch from L to R.

Well reading this thread during my Sunday morning breakfast of champions  :guinness: has me wondering if I'm a few brews shy of a 30 pack. Seriously it's just me but I am a electrical dummy  :whistle:
