This forum needs like buttons for replies. Great looking bikes!

Yea im leaning hard toward the sv650. the ninjas are nearly the same money and will be limited even in the small cc classes.
#3
Yea im picking up an SV650 I don't wanna mess up my Daytona and it will be distractingly worrisome.

Great! Does the RD keep up with other riders? I thought about getting a ninja 250 ($1000 bike) but many people complain if youre "too slow" on the straights even tho the 250 may smoke them in the twisties...

Im a little worried about banging up my Daytona, but the track seems safer than the street.

I've taken my RD and SV to track days. Two completely different bikes with the weight difference. The RD reacts so much quicker.

Thanks, Lyn, great info!

I've ridden at TGP since Hector was a pup.  .... The Ninga's go well there but if you are not used to racing the SV would be a bit more difficult.  Take a lot of water.

I have a Daytona that I've built the engine in and is in great shape and I'm friends with its original owner who took it from the crate in 1979. Would I be crazy to track this bike? It's not show quality but it's in fine shape.

I signed up for a track day at Little Tally (Talladega Gran Prix) and Im probably gonna ride my Daytona. Will be a first track day for me. Was debating buying a ninja 250 or sv650 to use instead. Anyone of you ridden there?

What sort of EGT should I see at partial throttle, medium load, and 3-5k rpms?

This looks exactly like the fairing I have on my RD 350. It was from Lockhart Phillips in Reno, CA.

They may be out of business. Their website timed out when I tried to connect today. It looks basically identical to the Emgo but was substantially less expensive. I think I paid $35 for mine 2 years ago. I don't know if it is the same part. I have seen these marketed under several brands.

Mine was not branded in any way and came in a plain white box. Chinois probably.

I know they had replacement screens in clear and the purple smoke you have now. The purple tint is the same as mine. I think they offered opaque black also.

In my case the $35 covered up $500 worth of ugly so it was a good exchange.

If they are out of business someone may have stock. There were a few companies offering their stuff online.

I usually don't either. This bike belonged to a good friend so the fairing was his add-on. I do like it more and more.

Anyone know where I can get a new hood for it? This one is purple

:cheerleader: love the fairing. I don't say that often.

Im nearing the finish line for my Daytona. New stuff all around. Love the tires so far.

Thanks to everyone here for their inputs.

Quick vote for the VAPE cdi kit. The price tag is deceiving since you will get new improved charging system as in addition to timing curve. Made a world of difference compared to the static points system "that works fine" but the VAPE cdi works way better than fine. John at Economy Cycle sends these out fast!

Fellas my question was far more rudimentary and I think I've assumed the answer.

Let me ask a different way.

Do you change jet needle and needle jet in combo or can I simply swap jet needle only? Probably a stupid question that I believe I've found the answer to.

VM30 with 159-p-5 needle jet and 6F5 jet needle

6k rpms is pretty high in the rev range and I have the clip in richest position.

Quote from: Czakky on August 17, 2020, 06:08:38 PM
I believe the jet effects more higher up rev range but I'd personally move needle clip first. Then go up on jets as needed.

What carbs are you using?
