Thank you for the mention and link - hate to see the beast go.

If you or anyone in the neighborhood wants to attend, I will be there all day Friday to show the bike and answer questions; I have a 'Visitor' pass to share ... just PM me for my phone number to make contact and hand-off the pass.

Compared to other years, this is definitely the year of the two-stroke - there is some really nice stuff! Looking through Wednesday's results, it looks like day-one had some deals, but that's normal. The Kawasaki H1's and H2's were gold, and even those sorry toad Low-boy TZs went for a lot IMO. That H2-R750 sells a few lots before the TZ750 - it will be interesting to see if it meets reserve ... which I suspect is Very steep:
H2-R750 Kawasaki (https://www.mecum.com/lots/1100988/1974-kawasaki-h2-r750-road-racer/?aa_id=535302-0)

I believe there were only 3 H2R's built compared to a total of 600 TZ750's; no waiting around to bid on the 'other' one!

Warren

I was browsing the lots for today and came across this one. The color and year stuck out to me.
How many incorrect things can you spot on this "Original example"? :dawg:

wrong front brake reservoir, looks like the front wheel is the wrong size, headlight ears don't look right, seat strap looks like poop, braded front brake line wasn't factory, don't remember if the rear brake pedal came painted black??

Incorrect graphics/ colors for a '73 as graphics/ color on bike looks to be a '75. Seat may be incorrect as something doesn't look right there and front and rear turn signals are a mis-match with 2 different designs.

Lol, yep lots wrong with it. The first thing that caught my eye was that it's in the listings as a 1973 but it's painted Portuguese Orange. The VIN is correct for a '73. I noticed the listing stated "Original", and I thought WTH, not really!

Here's what I noticed from the photos:
1) wrong paint and graphics for 73 model
2) tank graphic is placed too low and does not wrap around the rear
3) wrong fuel tank & fuel cap
4) front wheel is wrong diameter (no fender clearance)
5) incorrect front master
6) front brake hose should be black, not braided
7) incorrect clutch lever
8) incorrect grips
9) missing right mirror
10) missing chrome trim rings on front signal stalks
11) missing dampers, cylinder heads and cylinders
12) carbs are natural finish, should be black
13) seat strap should go under metal trim strip
14) seat is over-stuffed and wrong shape (should be more flat and have kick-up on the rear)
15) incorrect rear turn signals (look to be from an R5)
16) incorrect rear turn signal lenses (should be red)
17) missing rear fender damper (for license plate)

The RZ350 market is going nuts. Two low-mile Y/B 84 models sold for $22K and $24.2K!

Crazy. I never thought of my RZs as a retirement plan!
But to paraphrase Elliott in the movie E.T: I'm keeping them.

The craziness continues. Some people have more money than sense

This 72 H2 just went for $55K!

And... another one sold there with "backwards" KAWASAKI decals applied on the fuel tank!  :bang:  If one has the decals applied correctly, it has to be worth at least $5000 more!  :rant-1:

Wow that is crazy money. It looks immaculate but not even 100% all there/original and even a novice admirer like myself can see that. As far as the big money RZ350's go it's funny how I viewed a few recently on FB Marketplace just a month or so ago that were in great shape for far more resonable prices 6k to 8k I guess based on Mecum values I should've just scoffed em up...but whats up with Mecum prices anyways? Whose driving that market?...more money than sense. You got that right

Your buddies private collection is better than those in my opinion. Hey I did notice a 72 H2 750 on Ebay earlier today with a "buy it now" or 17,500$.It's got original paint but the most interesting thing about it is a nearly 100% matching numbers bike. Engine and Frame numbers are only one digit off, thought that was kinda cool.

Kawasaki did not use the same number for frame and engine in that era.

That's right they didn't which makes it being a pretty ironically cool thing that it's only one digit off from being the same. At least that's what I thought when I looked at the pics pointing it out and then I read it in the seller's description so yeah the seller wanted to capitalize on that. FWIW though that bike is a way better deal than that Mecum H2 selling for 55k and still too much money for me to spend on a bike. Heck that Ebay seller outta rethink his ad and cancel it so he can sign up with a Mecum auction for the big bucks!
