What I see is that he has the chain as tight as a guitar string. Which I would take an educated guess to mean he bought the TZ as simply an 'objet d'art' and he knows literally nothing about motorcycles, much less this TZ.  Which makes his rant, just that.   :knightpoop:
However, the purchaser would be buying the bike in the pictures, not the rant.  But I think the price is about 1/3 too high with no spares.  :twocents:

I have a question even though I've already gone down this road .... will rd400 wheels bolt  straight onto the rz fork? still use one brake ?

^ Nope.

And if you get the emulators for the stock forks (which work great) you need to also purchase 'straight wound' fork springs.  Emulators do not work with 'progressive wound' springs.

Would the DS7 cases be authentic TZ stuff?

Yes.  TZ250 cases have DS7 prefix.  TZ350 cases have R5 prefix.  If you notice, the case #s are stamped on the top right rear of the cases, like an RD, and the mid left case # location the DS7/R5 use is left smooth.

For future reference, your basket looks fine.  This is all you really needed:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/YAMAHA-BANSHEE-CLUTCH-BASKET-CUSHION-KIT-DRAG-RACING-MFG-By-Mattoon-Machine/223508256474?hash=item340a2156da:g:1XMAAOSwA3dYEWXn:sc:USPSFirstClass!32724!US!-1

Carefully grind the heads off the rivets from the back side.  Drive the rivets out with a punch.  Remove the broken bits of the old cushions. Run a 1/4"-20 tap through the existing rivet holes (no need to drill them).  Clean everything. Fit new bushings, fit old cover plate, install with 5/8' long 1/4"-20 bolts (grind the heads thinner to about 1/8" thick) and just a dab of Loctite.
If your basket 'fingers' are really notched, by all means you should replace the basket.  But most aftermarket baskets are heavier than stock.

Everyone has a style.  Ben (bracket maker) tends to be very precise; some may think longwinded.  But that can be a good thing when it comes to helping someone like me understand electrics.  Admittedly, I often don't read all the info Ben posts.  All I know is that if he says XYZ voltage regulator works, I take it for granted.  I simply don't care How it works.
I tend to be curt, sarcastic, cynical, and, some may feel, mean (when I may see an individual is repeating mine, or other's errors, but they insist on forging ahead).
Ben has helped me when I have had a project that I knew the end result I wanted, but didn't know the correct electronic bits to use.  His advice was spot on and he replied quickly.
If you want long-winded technobabble, check out Snowbum's bmwmotorcycletech.info     That guy can write two and a half pages of inane ramblings about how a cotter-pin works.  Plus a lot of his 'info' is contradictory and wrong.  Ben always seems to be spot on, and I appreciate that.
