"The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down
of the big lake they call Gitche Gumee.
The lake it is said, never gives up her dead
when the skies of November turn gloomy."

Not a bike post, but it's almost November 10th and I feel it's fitting to remember the men who lost their lives in the great pursuit of industrial steel. The Edmund Fitzgerald might have still been on the lakes if it wasn't taken by the sirens of Superior in 1975.

It's one other thing I attach to the love of my old RD. The year the big fitz went down was the year this bike rolled off the assembly line. Life goes on so they say. I grew up watching freighters running all along the lakes and even came close to pursuing that as my job. I chose college instead. Makes me wonder what all I might have missed. Well, cheers boys.

Great song and a tragic story. It takes a brave soul to work on ships.
