"V blocks" are what's typically used for crankshaft truing

That's not going to do much for a Yamaha twin crank. Use two V blocks under the center bearings,  do one end, then install and align the other.
... but different cranks use different fixtures. The fixture shown would work well for a single, singles I usually mount a bearing in a collet and hang the crank vertically in the mill... that way I can put several indicators on it at once. I want the crank rotating in a bearing, not dead centers like in the fixture shown

when I did my 1st triple crank, I did it on v blocks, then chucked it in my lathe with the live center and then did a comparative check all on the same plane supported by the ends, just because it was there.

^ tool would dev be good for a single crank though.
