Are there lash tolerance numbers engraved in the 350 basket and primary gears like on newer motors?

Liquid cooled motors have hand engraved numbers on the gears. Added together there is a lash tolerance to meet.
Not sure if the aircooled motors had this as well.

id never run it.

HOWEVER i know a guy with an 83 650 nighthawk hes had since 1985. I was helping him take his motor down to get rebuilt 12? years ago, tore it down found a basket like that . I was like 'dude, you need to replace that' He told me it had been like that since about 89 when he broke it, and was fine, bike had 75k on it when we were in it. He had ridden it from NY to texas, i think twice in that time as well..  He had the motor rebuilt , even had custom je pistons made for it, but kept the fingerless basket. still running around to this day.  O0 :busey:
(Tim if youre reading this, its Leo, big surprise  :dawg:)

Wow.  That's a great story. I don't think I'm going to take that risk. It's actually allowed me to do some research on Clutch Baskets. OEM vs Performance ones.  Pretty cool stuff.

Does anyone know if a 400 CB fits a 350? Either way Jspooner is take a look in his garage to see if he has an extra one to sell me.  In the meantime, I've ordered the proper tool from amazon so this doesn't happen again.

Did you put a screwdriver through it to torque the clutch nut?

Something like that. I've learned my lesson and ordered the tool last night so this doesn't happen again.
