JL Street Retros, emphasis on Street. Sound cool, allow center stand, look weird, broad spread of power, lighter than stock... barely.
The black pipes are J&R pipes with RD350 headers that allow a center stand. Power comes on at 6k-8.5k but are fairly flat before that. Pretty heavy, look old school are easy to re-pack and apparently came with tapered propriety headers that are near impossible to find..

Marketed at the time as PHR made for Ron Reichert at Purple Haze Racing by Spec II. Good street pipe. No Centerstand. Bolt on. An excellent street pipe with good performance throughout the range.

No Centerstand. Bolt on. Reduced bottom end. More of a road race pipe. Will rev past 9500 with an undisciplined throttle hand resulting in motor carnage on a Triple.. That being said, still a very good expansion chamber.
Spec II F1, very similar to the classics but the power continues a little higher in the rev range and comes on a little stronger in the midrange. Obnoxiously loud but have a very nice crackle at idle. The version in the pic is the road race version, meaning they are just tucked up a little higher than the street version. Center stand tabs must be removed for these.
DG - no centerstand but tabs can be left alone. These are a low budget pipe, Fitment and build quality is lacking compared to the higher end pipes. A noticeable power increase over stock but lacking in the delivery department compared to the higher end pipes.
Video of Spec II classics on a RD400. They had been repacked at this point as there wasn't much packing material in them.

Are the J&Rs pretty much on par with DGs? Power wise
meh, sort of, but dg will prob make more top power compared. I liked my j&rs on stock bikes. best thing about them was the no mods needed to install them, and you can keep center stand. however, with those, you lose a smasll bit of lean angle. they are old school cool though. not a bad deal for them.

All those bikes have been and gone unfortunately. I do have some vids of different pipes but all I would say is the sound on the vid isn't the same as in "real life". My latest pipes sound so much better in the flesh than this vid sounds;

No, they are stainless TSA's with Mutt's alloy 6" cans.

Are RZ350 FPP, Toomey and DG pipes all the same thing?
I have a set of Toomeys and a set of DGs, each for the RZ350, and there are some design similarities bu they are not the same. Can't comment on the FPPs other than what I' seen in pictures, but they appear similar to the other two...with differences.

I know the silencers, hangers and flanges are different, but i have seen it mentioned a few times now that they are the same. They certainly look the same in pics.

I believe DG and Factory both copied Stuart Toomey's design and dimensions.
These were sold in Canada as Greg Wolf pipes. I wonder if they were just re branded FPP's.
I have never seen any other pipes with the hokey rings to hold the silencers on.

Had them cerakoted satin black with the can done in red to match paint.
I think Pipeline chambers had aluminum cans. Your set looks like the ends were cut off and replaced with DG type ends.
Dean Moro's Pipelyne chambers were similar to DG, without removable cans.
Those pictured may be modified Pipelynes, but the hangers look different too.

I seem to remember the Pipelynes having wire spring hooks. I sold my set almost 20yrs ago, so ....

i have a set of piplynes, they indeed had riveted steel cans. mine had aluminum ones added later but thats exactly whats on that daytona.

I spoke with Dean and he confirmed these are pipes he built back in 1979. Pretty damn cool. I have 3 sets of pipes for my Daytona - stock, these Pipelynes, and a set of Wicked stainless steel pipes. I might sell the stock and Pipelynes. The Wicked pipes are very good.
