Had electronic ignition installed ,what are these wires for ? See pic
I don't recognize those...what brand of pickups are they?
Chuck
Hi Chuck, I'm not sure the make , I had 3 going into the rebuild (given to the mechanic ) I know one was a newer type electronic ignition . However it had a fitment issue regarding the case , so they/we were going to go with points . in the end they were able to get in installed which I think is better (so far) . If I take off the engine case will you be able to tell in a photo the make ?
If not me, maybe someone else might.
Do I see?
2) Green
2) Black
1) Red
1) Yellow
Does it use a brain box?
Chuck
yes you are correct with the colours ,I don't have an additional box with it , I will pull the cover off one day this week and shoot you an image .
Ok so I pulled the cover off and here are the photos ,
well. going to take a stab here.
id guess black and black: 12v+, green and green: -(ground), red: LH - coil, yellow, RH -coil. looks like adapted pickups from another application, and following a sort of modified honda wiring protocol. did something similar on my t500 :science:
I have seen this one before, may even have a take off sitting upstairs.
I went through all of these off the top of my head....
This is my common list.
Dyna
MZB/Vape
Boyer Bransden
Martek
Piranha
Newtronics
Cycle-Tech
Race Ignitions are:
PVL
Motoplat
Powerdynomo race
Dyna in running total loss on battery
Who else am I missing that made ignitions?
Chuck
krober is one as well but extremely unusual to see these days.
Any take on where those wires should go ?
I listed it above.. thats how i would approach it.
why would somebody put an igntion on and not wire it? I'm lost here on this point.... you paid a shop to put it on, right?
Yes , it was a complete motor rebuild . Only motor was supplied . At first it was going to have points , but I also had that ignition , and they managed to get it installed , now I have to figure out the rest ad I install the motor etc .
gotcha. motor was rebuilt and then delivered, they didnt have rest of bike. makes sense now.
you will absolutely need to verify timing on that then.
