"Of those almost 52,000 motorcycles stolen, less than half have been recovered with the NICB study indicating that only 42% were found."
I've noticed every homeless encampment has at least one or two rattle can black, street bikes!
makes you wonder where all those complete fairing sets that are always on craigslist come from
I had two motorcycles stolen from just outside my garage door last year. Had been up late working in the garage, went inside for a break and sat in the lazy-e-boy to watch tv. Passed out and when the wife got up and left for work, I noticed they were gone. My shop space is tight, so I would have to roll a couple outside to make room inside to work. I have since started keeping more bikes in my barn, instead.
1987 Honda XR250r with street title.
1983 Honda FT500 built for track.
I still reel from that episode. Neither were recovered, and I don't expect them to be, especially the XR.
I had a registered dirt bike stolen and it ended up turning out with a miracle. This kid took a glass cutter and tape to my garage window and reached in and unlocked the door. Stole my bike. Damn, write that off, no hope. About a 2 weeks later the phone rings, "Hello Marc, this is officer **** of the New York State Police, did anyone call you to come pick up your bike, we make an arrest? Me: NO! WHERE IS IT!! Officer: It's right here in the garage at the troop barracks. Me: I'll be right over !!! He helped me load it in my van and all was good. He said they caught him riding it school property. :celebrate:
