What is the consensus for Gas.
Searched the forum and not much found.

So Do you go Ethanol free, no matter what octane
Or do you go Shell Nitro 93 with whatever ethanol it has?
(Nothing higher that 93 here in central Florida)

Also, with the new oils, is 32 to 1 still the standard mix ratio for street.
Or can 34 to 1 or less be used.

I like to keep it stock also.
But no choice if a fairing is mounted.
Signals have to be repositioned
also headlight moved to fit.

General Chatter / Re: Daytona Kill Switch Dilemma

Problem Rectified:

I ended up getting a 12 volt relay to put inside the headlight shell.

I ran 12 volt power thru the new kill switch and to the relays coil.
So the relay would energize when the new switch was in the RUN position.

I connected the existing kill wires to the NC contact on the rely.
So when the switch was in Run, it energized the relay, and opened up the contact for the original kill wiring to be open.

I did this all without splicing into any of the existing wiring.
I used bullet connectors & made " Y "s , ( 2 into 1's ) to just plugged into the correct existing wiring, and that left a spare for my new connections.

Would still have been easier with the right switch.
But if I find one, it can all go back in without a problem.

So I received my RZ350 faring last week.
Worked on it this week.

Had to cut a little to fit around the blinker ears.
Fairing came with a generic mounting kit, which actually worked, but 1 question.

Used brackets to mount fairing to handlebars.
Handlebars move due to the rubber mounting in the column.
Will this be a problem?
Should I mount to the fork bolts?

Also, how close or far should the fairing be from the cluster.
The headlight was raised with a bracket as well.

I would like to try and adapt a little larger windscreen.

I agree.

Bearings should not be run dry.

Even new, the Mfgr has some grease or lube in them.

Sealed bearings are sealed with the lube inside, so as to never lose it.

put the same lube in it, that it is exposed to inside the motor.

Turning Wrenches / Re: Replacing Motor Mounts

Rode the bike a few times after mount replacement
Still alot of vibration.  Handlebar rubber bushings replaced as well.

Is this normal for an RD, or do the mounts need to get broken in.

I agree with what you say.
But mine is not wired that way.
Open in the run position.

Canadian Daytona with Electronic ignition.

I will look for wiring as well.

So i needed to replace my switches.
Bought 2 new aftermarket ones.

Wiring for the light switch had all wrong connectors.
So i had to remove my existing wiring & retrofit to the new shell.

On the kill switch it was the same problem.
Wrong connector. But i could not use my wiring, as the toggly knob had different mounting.

So i spliced the old connector to the new wiring, & installed.

Went to stsrt the bike, & nothing.
Would not start.  I was already pissed at the other switch & now this.
Hesd spinning.

So, i put the switch in the Off position.
And it started .

So my old SW & the new SW had oppisit contacts.

Old SW had No Continuity in the Run position
New SW had continuity in the Run  position.

Based on being an Engineer, the New SW is proper.
SW off or wire cut = bike goes off.

Can anyone with a Daytona verify how there SW works.
Just open headlight, unplug connector & use meter.

OK.

Verdict is in.
They stay Stainless.

Whole set was only $25.
I could always order another set, paint, & then see how it looks.
If there was an Inkling

Took side covers off to be painted.
PO had them off prior, & the philips heads are starting to get damaged where the bit engages.

Bought some stainless allen heads off Ebay to give a try.

They are srainless colored.
Should they be put on As Is, or painted black as the old ones where.
