Ever tried taking these off & putting back on.
Had a hard time with my kickstand spring.

But, Alas, I have the Answer.

I extended the centerstand down to hold up the bike.
I was left looking at an expanded spring.
I went ahead & put 10 - 12 washers in all the openings.

Retracted the centerstand.
The washers kept it expanded.
It came right off with my hand.

I left the washer in for re-install.

Probably can do the same for new spring installs, by bending spring to 180 degrees, and have friend stick the washers in the gaps.  Then turn around & do again.

General Chatter / Re: How do you get the grommets out

I received the new ones.
So I just cut the old ones out.

New ones were split lengthwise, so they went in easy.

Old rubber was really compressed & hard, so these should make a difference.

softening it up is good.

Problem is trying to get the all around the expanded part to pull it to the center, to then push thru.
need 6 hands.

I was going to try a hose clamp, and tighten up to push expanded part to center.
Then use socket to try & get started thru.

I think once its started a bigger socket can then push all the way.

May have to then do reverse to get new one in.

Footpeg mounting bars.
2 grommets on each.
How do you get them out to replace or paint part?
Seems like they should be a split part.

Rather not cut them out.
Then how to get new ones in

Anyone in San Jose, that can pick this CL switch up for me.
pictures show only (2) wires and seems to be no headlight switch.

General Chatter / RD400F Right Kill Switch

Looking to replace my right kill switch assembly.
Mine is kinda faded.

I see plenty on Ebay, But...
They all have the On/OFF light switch knob.

My bike does not have that switch.
Headlights come on & stay on when bike starts.

Mine is just 'blanked" off.
does not look like a plug, but part of the casting.

There is a guy on CL that I think has one in San Jose, but he does not respond to emails.

What paint to use on some of the fading parts on the bikes:

Kick stand
Foot rests
Center-stand
etc...

accessory parts, not the engine or cases.
Mostly cast stuff with roughness

Its not Gloss, & its not flat.

Matte or Satin.
Who makes it

Krylon has Satin & Matte
Any others?

What about the engine cases

Some other posts on spray paint, but not many replies

This site had some RD's for sale.
All are sold now; but a good site to look at for future bikes.
