its a nice example. bet it goes over 6500

Yeah that's what I was thinking, maybe as much as 7k...One of the selling points of that bike is that it was so close to me locally.  I know they're around but it seems like a Unicorn in my backyard and Ma. is a title state so the seller clearly stated their was a clean title which is a huge plus.

On that note I've been getting in a bad habit of sticking the plate from my gixxer on to my RD for my little backroad blasts. Pass by cops all the time and it just seems like they never want to bother with stopping bikes. Of course the day I do get stopped or heaven forbid I get into an accident that's when the crap will hit the fan, just thinking about the importance of titles and all that boring legal stuff. I know it's not smart but heck I even throw the plate on my little Honda Ruckus. I just like to use my stuff when the weather is nice. The other thing that kinda shys me away from wanting this awesome ride besides a lack of proper garaging is that our nice riding weather has been really spotty. It just seems like the bikes collect too much dust.

Well I got cold feet and retracted my bid...and it's not because I can't afford it. More like I have no room for another bike and I guess I was stunned by the proposition of maybe owning it, I would own it gracefully. I mean I would just have to build a bigger shed which I need anyway. I guess I do worry a bit about having money tied up in something that may succumb to rust/corrosion.

Honestly though I really like this year, paint scheme of the Kawasaki triples and this seems like a great starting point/example.  I think its up and coming in terms of collectable value but I feel biased since I obsess over em. Not sure what the future really has in store in terms of collecting value so I guess one just buys out of passion and accepts this lust?

Thoughts on this bike are still encouraged and I will be engaged in keeping this conversation going, cheers.

Hi, has anyone seen the Ebay auction on this bike? Well I certainly have and as of now I am the highest bidder  ...but the reserver still hasn't been. However I just got an email from EBay saying the seller lowered the reserve further and again the reserve still hasn't been met? Seller claims it's all original with low miles and it looks to live up to that claim. It's a really clean bike in really nice shape. There's approximately two days left in the auction. What do you guys think it's worth? Any further ideas on this bike? I really don't have room for another bike so not sure I wan't to entertain a higher offer than the 4,544 ferns I'm willing to part with but if the seller was willing to sell at that price (I suspect not) then I believe this bike would be a steal. It looks to be investment quality but of course I would have to enjoy it

Please check it out and let me no what you think, cheers!

Hmm it's interesting that you could get away with batteries small enough for an rc car. I remember having fun with those as a kid. I almost all of em, rc10, Tamiya fox, grasshopper, frog. A buddy of mine had the wild one. Well anyway I put my honda ruckus scooter battery back in and let there be light ;D

Put a nice ride on her today in and out of around town maybe 50 miles and created another dilemma. Well I put a good little 50% of door knob size dent right on the bottom of one of my chambers whilst riding out of my driveway where theres this dip and rock meets the street. Kinda a bummer and the makings of another thread on how to remove dents I imagine. :umm:...but you really have to bend over to see it and I just love the sound coming from those dg pipes.  ;D

from static to dynamic? it can drift off. always dynamically time with a light. the ONLY accurate way a dial gauge is used to finalize a timing setting is with points or an optic beam (like a newtronics or piranha)  in my experience. However, a timing gauge is needed to set or verify the timing mark.

btw, thats me in the vid posted. I need to do an updated one for an mzb, dyna, and hpi.   :cheerleader:

Gotta love that video!

Long before I joined this forum I found that video and along with another video on how to make and use a buzzbox I got a handle on how to set timing. Great Videos.  Despite that I still went with the Vape/MBZ ignition.

On second thought supposing no one cares to entertain my "wire a hidden kill switch for dummies" query that is OK....cause I gotta another problem with no easy work around. Thing is when I acquired this Vape Ignition I also purchased this fancy pantsy "battery eliminator" by Excel. So I just took the bike for a ride and noticed my lights don't work, I guess that the battery eliminator just doesn't store enough juice to keep lights on? I dunno what to say except it was recommended by the RD guys at HVC and I know I got the leads hooked up correctly as I'm not that dumb but it just doesn't seem to work. Maybe that's something silly too as even the neutral light won't come on and the thing is I really wouldn't have bothered to go battery less if it wasn't for the fact that I got this "battery eliminator". I dunno I guess it's a moot point anyways because my local bike shop told me that too pass Ma. state inspection bikes need to power lights without the motor running. I don't wanna give up but I'm thinking having the battery is probably the way to go as I'm not racing the bike or looking to build a feather weight machine.

So today I decided I would try to wire up the one wire kill switch and that was pretty easy to do but I also wanted to add this two prong toggle switch I got from Advanced Auto Parts as a hidden kill switch that I would have mounted inside the battery box. Not sure if it matters but it says it's 12volts and 35amps made by Motorcraft. I thought that if I had the hidden switch basically wired between the blue wire running from the coils and the one wire kill switch I mounted on the handle bar then it was as simple as that but it doesn't work. I guess I must being doing something wrong here. Any ideas?

Ha,ha. You gotta luv it. I've always been amused by the term rat rod and how it can make a neglected bike seem appropriate. Well at least they went  the extra mile with seat/ butt end of the bike deleting and altering for that ratty fastback style.

Can you use a cable set up even with the stock foot pegs? I've been having some problems with my rear brake sticking with the stock linkage. Basically I tried to get that brake pedal/leverage adjusted so with the lightest foot pressure I was putting on the brakes with very minimal travel of the brake pedal. However what I found was the spring that connects the backside of the pedal to the linkage doesn't seem to have enough tension. So I had to back off on the threaded rod barrel adjuster at the drum to get more pedal travel. Seemed to solve the brake sticking but now I have more travel oh and that spring I mentioned earlier just doesn't seem like it's very useful and it's a chore to set up properly.

Hi all, just wondering if any of you have seen this listing? Thoughts on it? Is it worth it? Will it handle amazing with modern suspension and brakes?

Unfortunately the Ebay listing says "(WILL NOT CLEAR COOLING FINS OF AIR-COOLED HEADS)"  It would be cool if you could purchase the machined base with a longer housing by itself to use with a small face dial gauge.

You can get just that from Motion Pro. Just search adapter kit for aircooled engine

FWIW and I hate to say this because it seems like I am "that guy"...well I have bad luck with at least three RD related products I purchased online and this is one of em. So mine must've had some bad threads or something because I can only get in like two or three turns and it's just not going to thread in nicely like the sparkplugs will. It works but not correctly. This was before I new about this forum much less the existence of this thread unfortunately. I didn't want to deal with the hassle of sending it back nor the extra shipping costs so I just make due with its shortcomings and don't force it. Now that I have a Vape Ignition it sorta kinda did it's job and unless I rebuild the engine any time soon I really don't need it and even then the rotor has a machined keyway and timing has been verified by me so I'll probably never need it. At the time it frustrated me enough to wanna get a die to clean up, recut the threads. Like I say don't know if I was just a victim of a lazy production run of these but it would probably work wonderful if it would actually thread all the way in.

Not Homemade, but I've used this little gem with great results. You don't even have to remove the tank.

Can't seem to locate the eBay listing where I purchased it, but it's identical to the "Buzzetti Micrometer Timing Tool".
Mine isn't branded, and I only paid like $20-25 for it. So I'm sure if you hunt around you can find one cheaper.

How does that work? I'm guessing you just set it at where ever you want to be BTDC and it acts as a kinda stop? Crank her over till the piston meets tip and Bob's yer uncle.

Awesome, I totally didn't know that. So I am essentially under utilizing the capabilities of this newer more modern ignition system. Glad I asked.  :good: :rock2:
