Looking to put a small faring on bike.
Any pictures out there.
Rifle makes 2 small ones.
Also considering putting on a rectangular mirrors, & rectangular headlight.
Rifle makes one for this also.
Maybe a KZ fairing will fit also.

Sometimes I run a Givi or Puig bikini on my R5....

airtech 1/4 ducati fairing with Gustafson shield. took off after crash in 2015 but might go back on.
Mark, I don't usually like fairings on an RD that much, but that one is DONE RIGHT,...Very Nice Job !!
thanks. I need to get a new screen for it and paint work repaired.
another good option is an rz fairing, they tend to work pretty well on aircooled bikes if you can track one down. usually you can get ones that need repair for reasonable amount of money. Had one on my old 75.
Bret makes some nice ones.

How do you think these would look?
Superbike
or Nightflight

At my age not looking for a Cafe fairing.
Something for wind protection that is not too big.
I didn't know they were still making those Rifles.
I think it would look like you stole something off a mid 80s bmw. gross. hate those fairings.

Or installed a barn door.
Here is an RZ.
Kinda small tho.

Paint the blue stripe black & see how it looks.
Otherwise color match
The Maier GPZ clone looks good on RD's. https://maier-mfg.com/005110-small-sport-fairing-round-headlight-black.html
I just recently picked up a couple of Daytonas. One has a fairing on it that looks a lot like the Maier GPZ clones mentioned above.
Here are some pictures. There not that good but it may give you a better idea on how it looks. I personally didn't like at at first.
I plan on putting it back on after the break down/cleanup/rebuild.
Hopefully I send the pictures properly.
Sorry, here is the other pic. Again, not that great of a picture.
this is an rz faring on an aircooled rd. not as small as you'd think. my old bike from 18-19 yrs ago. was a damaged rz faring i got for for cheap.
My 1st RD. :patriot: :patriot:
We have this one here.
Cheap enough to buy, put on, and see how it looks.

I am thinking the RZ one still looks better.
M
as an fyi, that same rz faring (like the exact one) got repainted and is now on my friends GT550.
the emgo venom isn't too bad on an rd, seen a few. :twocents:
I think the RZ fairings look better if they're fitted a bit lower than stock. I just set this on there to see how it looked and never really secured/fitted it.
true.
also a larger headlight will fit other than stock(350) which is goodif you are looking for a H4 style replacement bulb type.
How are the attachments done to fit the RZ350 fairing to the RD400?
Any thoughts on retrofitting the RZ350 square headlight version.
I think a Seca 650 square headlight can be used, & it has the rear case.
i bent 2 pieces of aluminum, used the stock in fairing rz mounts to the upper triple tree clamp bolts on the 350. super easy and obvious if you have one in hand.
No comment on square headlight options. :whatever:
How about the blinkers.
Also this one:
The RZ fairing looks nice. It you are going for more look v. function, a Triumph style bikini fairing/ fly screen could look nice too. :twocents:

Actually was looking for a little more wind protection.
The previous Sport faring may do that.
Hard to tell without that one in hand.
Any info on turn signal relocation
I've got a nice fiberglass bikini fairing I'd love to see go to a good home.
Will post pics soon
Yes. It's an ebay fairing and the headlamp bubble was painted inside to work as a number plate. They come in white or black.
Hard to go wrong for $35. Typical old-style 1/4 fairing.

This looks like better mounting than the Emgo is supplied with. I have one on my 350 that I believe is the same part as Emgo Viper but came from a company called Lockhart Phillips and wasn't branded as Emgo. Def Chinoise. It was also about $35. They seem to have revamped their website. https://www.motosport.com/.
I like it. Looks good and blocks most wind. My RD is a little crusty though. It's off the bike now as I have some things apart on the bike getting ready for spring or I would take a picture.

my buddy david bought one of those to go on his xsr was way too small for that, but would def be good on an rd. its pretty decent, way better than i expected.
I just ordered a Dart Marlin for my XSR. I like 1/4 fairings but they don't look right without low bars, clubmans, or clip-ons. Drag bars at the very least. If you do low bars then next its rearsets etc. I just don't want to ride hunched over all the time on that bike. It kills my neck. The Dart is just a flyscreen but it should deflect some of the wind. It would take a trim ring or a bigger headlight to work with the 7" fairings on the XSR stock 5" light.
The Emgo Viper looks good on an RD. Right size and seems to stay on good. The mounts they supply with it are terrible but they work with a little bending. I was meaning to find something better since I have the dimensions now. It doesn't blow around or get loose. It seems like $35 is a fair price to figure out if you want a fairing or not. The Puig stuff does not have very good reviews but they are everywhere online. All the fiberglass stuff requires a little engineering. And $$$.
Lockhart Phillips doesn't seem to have a website any more that I can find, though they are apparently still in business? Maybe? Their stuff is still available from other merchants. They may have folded. Can't tell.

I bought one too. Think it is too small even for my RD350A. More suitable for a vintage 100 or 125 in my opinion. I agree that the finish is very good for the price.
So I received my RZ350 faring last week.
Worked on it this week.
Had to cut a little to fit around the blinker ears.
Fairing came with a generic mounting kit, which actually worked, but 1 question.
Used brackets to mount fairing to handlebars.
Handlebars move due to the rubber mounting in the column.
Will this be a problem?
Should I mount to the fork bolts?
Also, how close or far should the fairing be from the cluster.
The headlight was raised with a bracket as well.
I would like to try and adapt a little larger windscreen.
M
mounting to bars is fine. as close to gauges is up to you, its a preference. looks good
:agree: looks good on there
Ok,
So got the Turn Signals relocated
Fairing to go on this weekend.

Another  for this look. Nice. NOT STOCK...Although, I keep remembering the Estate Wagon "pre-gearing". 3 gear power wheelies...man.
let the fun begin.
I like to keep it stock also.
But no choice if a fairing is mounted.
Signals have to be repositioned
also headlight moved to fit.

Ok.
So it is mounted.
Seams it us a good size & fit.
I have the fronr fender graphics to put on.
Up & down?
Or
Left & right?
