Title: Oil Pump Worm Drive Pin Install Help
Post by: ian on September 03, 2021, 04:39:19 PM
In the process of rebuilding my oil pump and need some advice. My plunger cam was pretty corroded on the outside so I had to use a punch to get it through the body, in hindsight I should have just left it in but in the process the worm drive gear came off the cam. Luckily I did this in a bag so I was able to recover the pins but now for the life of me I have no idea how to hold the pins in to get the worm drive gear back on. I already shot one pin behind my washer and by the grace of god was able to track it down. Anyone got any tips?

I would worry more about the main 10mm bore in the casting first. You have to remove the corrosion first before removing the camshaft. The cam/bore is a precision fit and your main casting is probably scrap now.
