I totally agree with 85RZwade.

Did you see his garage in the background.

Uncovered, and took the dusty/dirty 78 for a rip around the neighborhood.

Maybe it is just me.  Based on what I can see, I do not consider that bike to be in "Excellent" condition.  Good yes, excellent, no.

Thank you Evans!

I think I am that "guy" too.  And, I'm OK with that.

I agree, the bike sounds great!

I not sure how to copy the above from socal250.

Anyway, both bikes vins are under 4290.  They are actually within 6 of each other.  Sibling bikes.

Thanks for the info

I have always heard the same-5,000 were made.  As Socal250 mentioned- 4,190 according to Yamaha serial number records.

Do the last four digits of a bikes vin # directly match the bikes serial number?

Because two of my Daytona's have vin #'s over 4200.  Which would mean there were over 4,190 Daytonas made.

I did not realize the low numbers of 78's made.  I feel fortunate to have one of them too.

Getting back to the cl post.  I find it extremely odd that there are no pictures.   That is a red flag to me.

Thanks for sharing!

Some nice bikes.  I really like the blue 200.

Did you take any of your bikes?

I got my colored diagram today.

Thank you very much Evans!

I would like to buy one too.

I wonder what the person was thinking when they decided to paint it that hideous green.   :umm:

That's a pretty neat bike.  Like Evans, I too did not know those were made.

I wonder how many were made????

Wow. That article brought back some good memories of my 1st pair of Vans.  They were, two toned.  The left and right side were not the same colors.  I remember my father being very unhappy because they were different colors.  I wore them until I couldn't.

They were the greatest at the the time.  If you were into skateboarding or surfing, you had to have a pair.

Yes indeed, RIP Paul Van Doren.

I don't know if they will ever make them for RD's.  But I would definitely buy some.  I think they are pretty cool looking.
