Turning Wrenches / Dyna coil install?
January 08, 2021, 12:17:26 AM
Installing a Dynatek Banshee coil on my LC.  Instructions say "Connect the black wire to the Dyna coil terminal with the red dot" and "Connect the orange wire to the other Dyna coil terminal".

There are no red dots anywhere on this dang thing.  Anyone know which wire goes where?

Turning Wrenches / Jetting
December 01, 2020, 01:57:05 AM
... is a pain in the ass.

Got my PWK28s setup on my LC with specs suggested by a friend down in SF with the same setup.

45 pilots, JJH needles @#2, 145 mains.

Lots of clutch slipping to get off the line, but idle isn't hanging, so i assume the pilots are close enough.

It runs better when cold and gets worse as it gets hot, so I can only assume the needles are lean and need to raise up a clip or two.

Would be nice to have a warm dry day, coz chipping away at this between rain showers is slow going.

General Chatter / HF Rear paddock stand?
November 21, 2020, 03:30:05 PM
I'm looking for a rear paddock stand that'll work well with my LC.

The Motoboss one i've had for the past decade+ is too wide for the skinny RD/LC swingarm

Anyone use this cheapo stand from Harbor Freight?

Hey Dudes,
I need a pair of these, but don't wanna spend $40 on them

https://www.ebay.com/itm/191786025821

Anyone got a better source for me?

I found these, but they're too long.  I'll be needing to cut down the first ones to fit anyway

Turning Wrenches / Daytona caliper?

Is the RD400F Daytona caliper mount spacing the same as the rest of the 400's?

This is my very good friend's bike for sale here in Portland, OR.

She ain't much to look at, but is complete and in great mechanical shape.

Yes, the pictures and ad sucks.  He's a man of few words (and few pictures).

Glad to help a potential buyer any way I can.

Turning Wrenches / 520 conversion
February 02, 2020, 10:15:24 PM
Doing 520 chain/sprox conversion on my LC.  I would assume it's v. similar to RD350/400 in this regard

Got the 520 front sprocket. Got the standard 4L0 CS spacer and nut. Got a new tab washer.

As I suspected, the CS nut bottoms out on the splines before tightening down on the sprocket.

Looks like I need a washer/spacer on the outside between the sprocket and the tab washer.

Am I correct that "clutch thrust washer" 360-16154 will fit and give the appropriate clearance?

https://www.partzilla.com/product/yamaha/360-16154-00-00

Crude measure as pictured looks to be +/- 1" ID which is what the splines measure.
