I have been looking for one for years to be able to haul all 3 bikes to the Gap and spied this trailer on the Henrico, VA Craigslist. I couldn't pass it up. A couple in thier 80s had it since 2010. They bought it from the original owner/ fabricator and used it to trailer thier BMWs around. They said it has never sat outside. They sold the bikes due to health reasons. Very nice people. They gave me an excellent deal on it and a bunch of free loot as well including a box full of tie down straps, a spare that has never been used, another box full of tricklechargers for bikes, two nice loading ramps and a grease gun and grease for the bearing buddies in the hubs. I had to change the 4 wire plug on the harness in thier driveway as they had the male female plugs opposite from my truck. One tail light didn't work and the lady of the house got her Phillips screwdriver and put in a new bulb while I was hooking it up. It is titled as a utility trailer. I towed it home at 70 MPH plus for the 100 mile trip with no problems. The tires have a 2002 date stamp on them and some small weather cracks starting so they will be replaced.
Nice looking' trailer, I'd be happy to have one like that my own self
Thanks!
yeah man, you did good. :celebrate:
Congrats! Now your bikes can ride in style.
i really like the rail height to wood solution. i might do something similar on mine.
Yes, nice and low makes for a safe and easier loading process especially if doing it by yourself. You did good!
Thanks!!! :patriot:

I tried to no avail to offset the chocks so I could push all three bikes on and not have to load the middle one backwards. Thanks to M in SC for the physics refresher and saving me from myself. I loaded all three up, around 1100 pounds total and was able to pick up the tongue up against the hitch ball with about 50 pounds of effort and that proves the weight is too far aft and the danger of a bad swaying situation is too great. I hadn't drilled the holes for the 3rd chock yet, thank God so I just have to move the right hand chock forward and then mount the left one all the way forward too. Thanks Mark :patriot: :patriot:

Harness sheath installed. All wires secured with supplied clips and some cable ties. I also mounted a small tool box to use for strap storage. Trailer done :olaf: :olaf:
About five years ago, I built a one-bike trailer on a Harbor Freight 40x48 kit, using their steel loading ramps upside-down to hold the bike. It has worked and held up well, but the tires now need replacement and the original HF wiring ALL failed last year. Corrosion had crept up the wires inside the insulation so that it all had to be stripped off and replaced with a kit from my local NAPA. If your lights are from HF, check the wires! I love their LED lighting, but their wiring is awful.
I used thier wiring kit that came with the lights. Everything is new now so hopefully it will last a while. You only get so much for $32.99. Thanks for the heads-up.
it should work for a while, especially since (i think) you store it in the building.
i went overboard with my lights, they were a bit more expensive but i reused the stock trailer wiring as it was fine (its always stored indoors too). Prob only reason its lasted.
Yep I keep it in the shop. The couple who owned it before me did too. The original 20 year old wiring was rotten. I agree it should be fine for several years at least I would think.
