Title: Rd250 Ignition switch?
Post by: Striker1423 on February 15, 2019, 01:04:21 PM
Hate posting something so simple,  but I know some bikes allow this so I want to be sure. Is the key supposed to be removable when the bike is on? I noticed this last year when I went to leave the local burger joint. I turned the bike on and my glove caught the key ring and out it popped onto the ground.

I'm just glad it never fell out while riding. But, I have a feeling my ignition switch is a little tired.

no.. the tumblers are worn out. they can be repaired but its... tricky at BEST if you arent familiar with it.

Anyone have any luck with aftermarket versions?

I buy cheap key lanyards for all my vintage stuff at the hardware store for just that reason and loop them around the handlebar or frame in case the key decides to hop out. Not a fix by any means but more of a loss prevention measure.

Ebay seems to have a few switches ,and their not that expensive compared to some.
