Jim, if you buy that KTM diesel, I suggest we transplant one of these into it:

So that you don't have to post about it in the 4-stroke blasphemy topic  :Clown: (550 2-stroke > 690 4-stroke)

:agree: I see it, too. On the mainshaft, there appears to be two gears facing each other, their dogs engaged. It's that way in the assembled-in-the-case picture, too.

The soaking routine worked very well and every nipple unscrewed without incident. Last moment as a TDR wheel assembly:

Got an Excel rim from my new best friend Mark (not that Mark) that I like better than the YZ item; it's much lighter and the color match is pretty good:

Excel on the right, with the sticker and TDR D.I.D on the left. And what it'll look like once the spokes get here and we lace:

Yeah, not the most dramatic transformation ever! Moving forward...
2.50x17, 36 hole D.I.D gold rim for sale!

Fought it for almost two hours last night; I think I'm going to just drill the damn thing.

It sounds like fun, but I can't get away that long this weekend

I made a boring bar out of an Allen wrench. Then reground it into a tool to cut an o-ring groove.

It's been a LONG time since I ground a lathe tool, but I think it needs to look kinda like this:

And it's still too big to fit in the freakin hole.  :confusing2: More grinding.

All due respect, as I don't know the guy, but he sounds like a "friend" you're better off without  :twocents:

I didn't get his name, but he and that lovely motorcycle were at the Tiddler ride Dennis and I did this summer on Vashon island.

I love these pictures! None of them are me/mine and you may recognize yourself or your bike:

I have an old magazine article somewhere, a comparison test, that rated stock Canadian model pipes more highly than a couple of well-known aftermarket pipes. Best for real-world street riding, as I recall. Somebody wants 'em. I have too many sets as it is, or I'd be, uh...how much did you say you want for 'em? Asking for a friend!
