Turning Wrenches / Bad Petcock? : RD 350
July 17, 2019, 06:19:42 PM
Hello again,

I recently checked my petcock to see if it was causing the fuel/ tuning issues I've been having. I found that only one fuel line drained gas, while the other either barely drizzled or released nothing at all.

I also turned off the gas and "wiggled" the petcock a bit. After turning it back on again, gas flowed out of the opposite fuel line, but not the one it was originally pouring out of.

After this, I covered the line that was running with my thumb and fuel poured out of the opposite side. Either way, gas only poured from one fuel line at a time.

Here is a video link if neededhttps://drive.google.com/open?id=1Afb7j16beVleaWCX3T7_mEcp1BGkMTu0

Is this normal, or should gas flow from both lines equally and simultaneously?

Turning Wrenches / Exhaust Ports Enlarged/Ported?
July 15, 2019, 02:38:28 AM
I recently took a closer look at my (RD 350) exhaust ports and I'm thinking that they may have been ported/enlarged. I also found this link on porting from Erlenbach racing (http://erlenbachracing.co/porting.htm ) to help guide me through exactly what is involved. I don't see the exhaust bleed port, although I'm not sure this applies to my bike. Also, my stock exhaust gaskets protrude into the exhaust outlet a bit (creating a small lip).

I have pictures attached if anyone is able to verify any of this:)

Hello,

I'm sure this question has popped up on the forum in the past, but I haven't been able to find it. I'm looking to purchase new carbs for my 73' RD350 and am thinking about spending a little more to get flat slide 28mm carbs vs. round. I've read that flat slide carbs provide much better throttle response, power and fuel economy. This seems worth an extra 150$ or so, but I've also heard that they "might be" more difficult to tune. I'm not entirely certain if this is true, but I would rather not have to deal with additional tuning or even oil injection adjustment issues. Also, I'm not sure if the TM 28mm flat slides will fit with my stock intake manifolds and/or y-boot/uni filter. I'm currently using the original 28mm round slide Mikuni carburetors.

Any feedback on this topic would be much appreciated!

Hello,

I saw the pipe ID thread, but didn't think that was the right place to post since I'm not entirely sure what these are. I was told a long while back that they were made by Pypeline, but it's also been suggested that these could be Spec II classics. Any help would be great.

Turning Wrenches / DG pipe Installation - RD350
July 10, 2019, 05:51:30 PM
Hello,

I just got a new set of DG's for my 73' RD 350. I installed one chamber easily to the rear foot rest bracket (inside the frame) just as the instructions say. However, the other pipe (kickstand side) hits the frame near the rear sprocket and will not reach the bracket if I try installing it the same way.

I'm thinking a section of the pipe may have been welded in the wrong position - it shouldn't be this difficult :umm:. Do some folks install these pipes on the outside of the frame vs. inside?

I'm thinking I may have to return these, but am going to give it another try. Any help here would be much appreciated.
