Not mine.

Wow
He clearly does not understand what all original or excellent condition mean
Too bad about the tank paint. $10,500, huh? I've been surprised before :umm:
$10.5k is a lot of money.
I am getting interested in trying to find one of these RZ's
Is there a better year than others?
Wanting the LC not the YPVS unless there is a good reason.
For the one in the add, have not studied, but what would be the non-original stuff?
Thanks for help.

Late 1980-1983. They are all basically the same, with a few changes at the beginning of the run.
JDM and Canadian market bikes are the most popular here, although they were produced for many different markets around the world, all with subtle differences. JDM bikes were "RZ350", the rest of the world knew them as "RD350" or "RD350LC".
The one in the ad is mostly standard, with black paint (wheels, forks, etc) being the most obvious non-stock conditions.
Lots (and lots) more info here: https://www.rd350lc.net/
Here's mine, coz everyone loves pics, right?

Thanks for chiming in.
What about pricing?
These bikes in the UK are up around $15,000 USD.

I'm seeing the average good condition all standard example go for about 8-10GBP. That's $10k to $12k USD. Prices are crazy over there because the LC acheived a lofty cult status in the UK.
I'm struggling with accurate pricing as well, as I'm looking to sell mine soon.
Tank would probably buff out.
you need to keep that 4UO man. its nice looking and you will kick yourself in the head for selling it later.
Yes Pricing is an issue but for California registered 4Y3 with a blue plate that is a bit on the high side but I think still within the range. Why? Because it is almost impossible to register these in this stupid state anymore unless you "know someone". Try looking for one registered in original condition. please. supply and demand causes prices to go up and down. someone with a stiffy will pay for that in the right day.
Just a few years ago you could get a good one here in Canada for less than $1000. nobody wanted them , I know I picked a bunch for $500. - 600. Now they are thin on the ground and even project will run $2000. - 3000. Really nice ones go south of the border , same for RZ350 and RZ500 .

Welcome back, Rob!
My heart says you're right, but my wallet says you're wrong. I still have the TDR and need a turnkey big boy bike I can ride long distances without worry. My pockets aren't deep enough to be a collector anymore.
So I contacted the guy.
Gave him a deposit.
Setup shipping for pickup on the 19th.
He called me back and told me he did not want to wait that long for it to get picked up.
so hes going to refund me.
M
If you were willing to meet that price, he's nuts for not waiting a few days.
Said he had other buyer local, that offered him $11K.
M
keep it jim.
I like where this is going.
Milan I have all the stock takeoff parts. Perfect condition pipes, airbox, uncut rear fender, stock carbs, brake calipers, etc, etc.
Rode it yesterday, and it's a ripper.
Looking to get an all original one.
So great you have all the stuff
PM me more pics
M
Lots of info on my build here: http://www.2strokeworld.net/forum/index.php?topic=8.0 (http://www.2strokeworld.net/forum/index.php?topic=8.0)
I mean Jim, if I were you I'd keep it. If you were me, you'd want to buy it, but can't lol.
WOW... maybe I should consider selling my ALL ORIGINAL 4UO. California blue plated... Im not so interested in all original bikes so this one can probably go.
oh and Jim! KEEP IT! its a big boy bike that can go anywhere!
I know all about it.
Every time I see a pic of a 3XV TZR I kick myself for selling mine.
As I said above, unfortunately I don't have collector money. If I want a new bike, I have to sell one of the ones I've got.
This one currently has my eye: https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/4384288664982658/ (https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/4384288664982658/)
If only I won the lotto, I'd just buy you that bike. :)
money is a renewable resource. remember that.
Any Pros & Cons to the LC's versus the YPVS later models?
M
lcs are simpler, that's for sure. Having dealt with both i actually like the lc more.
Both seem to be hard to come by.
I am looking at an 83 350 YPVS, less that 600 miles.
In researching on the net, the power valve seems to help alot with the low end.
M
actually the rz has better top end because of the power valve allowing for more radical port timing at high rpm. lcs have plenty of low end. If i were you id budget a min of 7-9k. also low mileage has its own range of issues that might be costly.
Never figured the low mileage would be a problem.
Just some more break in.
M
Low mileage problems on old bikes (especially 2t's) are that of worn-out dry-rotted rubber. Particularly the engine seals. The longer stuff sits the more dry-rot that accumulates.
Like the small upper & lower fairings.

M
also corrosion on metal parts from sitting. ive seen motors that sat, inside, sealed, with rust on bearing cages. No, not 'more break in'.
look at my ds7 post, 5000 mile bike, crank seals, shot.
So its kinda a corundum.
Getting a desirable old bike, versus what could be,or go wrong with it.
Seems like thats the case whenever we look at old stuff to purchase.
Cost now versus value in the future also comes into play.
as with this threads 350LC going for $11K
bottom line is buy what you like. if you try to balance resale vs initial cost vs whatever you are going to have to put into it to make it reliable, then you're going to just spin your wheels endlessly. what i used to tell customers, you're going to pay now, or later. but even if you pay a lot up front, you may still be paying more later.

If you're just looking for something to push into the corner of your man cave to impress your friends, then OG low miles are a good thing.
If you want a rider, unless a recent complete engine rebuild is documented, you should plan on one. No matter the mileage.
Supposed to get a video of the bike startup & running.
Not that that will tell everything
It would mostly be a Sunday rider to have fun with, and as a resell in retirement years.
Or maybe pass on to Son.
M
Another one
Priced higher than the YPVS
Jims right, always plan on a rebuild regardless of how it runs or looks unless its documented, especially w pics. receipts done always mean it was done right either. I had a 'pro rebuilt' RZ motor that I got, and immediately had to fix a few things on before i ran it or it would have grenaded day 1.
