Quote from: teazer on June 04, 2023, 04:16:42 PMIt's a beautiful bike and reminds me of a V twin TZ but I don't suppose any parts would cross over even if they were available.

Actually the basic bike is a street version of the 3YL. The crankcases are identical except for the holes drilled for the generator. The SP crank is identical to the TZ except the ends on the 3XV2 are keyed and the 4DP is splined. SP forks are identical to the 3YL 4DP. TZ cylinders will bolt directly on the cases as will basically everything else from a TZ motor.

Have been searching and trying to collect bits for it still. The Yen is way down at the moment so I managed to buy a TZ 4DP 3.75x17 front wheel and a set of 4DP Brembo rotors this week (to go along with the 83mm TZ250 calipers I already have) Still no luck on a 4DP rear wheel....

The 91 3YL.... First v-twin TZ

Quote from: m in sc on April 30, 2024, 10:23:58 AMI know, for a fact, the front end alone was over 2k.  :busey:

Looks like a 4LS drum, they are not cheap....the carbon fender doesn't go with it as well as an aluminum one would.....or the primer for paint...or the....hopefully it has a rear drum to match, if it's a disc, that's definitely wrong.

Edit...I guess it is a drum...now that I see more pics..
I'd like those brakes on my TM/TS400 project

Bikes like that help keep the price of clean original's continue to rise just that much more, as it is one less original available.
Like the bikes getting parted out (basically in Japan) that are rare to start with, only get more rare with each bike getting stripped to bits and then stored on shelves throughout the world.

I'm still holding out for an Indy event.... Maybe the new owners will reconsider?

Aprilia takes the win in Texas  :whoop:

First time I have seen someone purposely lay a bike on its side to get pictures of the bottom...

Fair deal considering that most end up selling for around $10,000 on average it seems now.

More HP
More desire to do one myself....

Really need to start looking at what to sell for the $$$

Turning Wrenches / Re: vapor blasting carbs

Same one I've been using for years on all kinds of parts...from carbs to frames to cylinders to...just about anything. Only tool I have bought from harbor freight that has worked more than a couple times without breaking.

Thanks guys.
It is going on one year since I brought this bike home....and still no where close to being done. Think my days of rebuilding are starting to come to a close.

That is a lot of various issues to try and find...no wonder the previous owner gave up on it. Hope you get to ride it soon

I got my tapered head bearings installed. Emulators came this week also, and then made some measurements from them and my lowering spacer. Cut my springs today to get the right preload, and did another dry build of them to see if my calculations got the bike to level out like I wanted.

Looks like what I had in mind, so apart the fork go again and then add the piston ring, oil seals, dust caps, and oil...then I'll be done with the front for good....I hope

Time to turn some attention...and $$$ to the motor rebuild now.

That really does look like quite a deal, if I was only one state away, I would be on the road right now to get it. Although that's the last thing I need....parts are available, but only through Japanese auctions.

What is going on with the gas fill area on that tank?
Is the tank that ate up, up top?

Haus of Projects / Re: RZ350 TZR 3XV Hybrid

I compared my RZ350 swing arm to my 3XV-SP swing arm, and the 3XV is basically 4 inches longer... wondering how that extra wheel base will change its handling? Although the 3XV bits are basically bomb proof compared to the RZ front and rear, and definitely will give more control.
Bike looks great so far

Still have a long way to go.

Fork's showed up today, (after 9 weeks) so I did a dry build on them with some rebound spacers to drop it a little. Still want the front a little lower, but with some weight on it, it should level out when completely done.
Will hopefully get some emulators ordered next week sometime, then I can put the front end on for good.
