Title: RD400 battery
Post by: RattlecanResto on March 27, 2020, 06:18:18 PM
What size AGM battery will fit in 76 RD400 stock battery box. I'm not seeing a replacement listed anywhere for the stock code. Thank you

Funny you should ask, I just dropped one into my '76 RD400 on Saturday -- bought it at O'reilly's (Super Sport GTX5LBS) and it fits perfectly.  Good price, too.  (https://www.oreillyauto.com/detail/b/power-sport-agm-6113/battery-accessories-16452/battery---automotive-16864/battery-12836/aa237490c00e/super-start-power-sport-agm-group-size-btx5l-bs-battery/gtx5lbsj/6546209?q=superstart+gtx5lbs&pos=1)

Good luck,

I'm personally not a fan of alarm batteries with spade terminals, Solder the wires on if you do.

Yeah, I like to install a battery tender cable on my bikes.  Not sure how to get around that with those flimsy terminals on the alarm batteries.

Just splice the battery tender pigtail into the pos. and neg. cables, a bit away from the battery terminals. A battery tender has low current, so a heavy gauge cable should not be neccessary,
